Epilogue

Istared at the pregnancy test in my hands. Positive. I put it on the counter next to the two other pregnancy tests, all positive.

I had snuck out the day before to buy several. All the signs had been there: fatigue, nausea, sore breasts. I had really started to wonder about a week ago when, all of a sudden, my pants felt like they were digging into my skin.

How was this even possible?

Obviously, I knew how, but it wasn't supposed to be possible for angels to become pregnant. Of course, I knew all about Lucifer getting Lilith pregnant, but Lilith hadn't been an angel.

In fact, no one knew how the deceitful bitch had even conceived. She was lucky she was dead, or I would have killed her.

I wanted to cry at the thought of what she had done to Lucifer.

Yup, definitely pregnant.

There was a knock on the bathroom door, and I quickly gathered the tests and boxes and shoved them behind old boxes of tampons under the sink. I kept them because they made me feel at least a little human. It was silly, really. It had been a year.

"Lia?"

I breathed a sigh of relief. It was Kai. He might have noticed I was freaking out a little, but he would let it be. At least I hoped so.

I pulled open the door and was met with his raised eyebrows. We had been together long enough now that we never locked doors.

"Are you okay? You look pale." He brought his hand to my cheek, concern in his eyes. He sent a pulse of healing into me, and I sighed as the nausea in my stomach ebbed.

A few months before, Lucifer had convinced Michael and the council that made the decisions about fallen angels, that Kai deserved his wings back.

"I'm fine. Just tired." I brushed past him and into the bedroom.

Ric was still sleeping, sprawled out on his stomach, the sheet barely covering his bare ass. He had to be exhausted after running out in the forest all day the day before. Not to mention the bedroom activities he took part in.

I pulled a hooded sweatshirt of Ric's out of the closet and pulled it on. I didn't need to wear it, but the coverage and softness made me feel a little better about the unexpected.

Lucifer was already sitting at the breakfast table with a plate of half-eaten food and coffee in front of him. He was reading the paper, his favorite thing to do in the morning.

"I cooked breakfast." He glanced up from his paper and smiled at me. It was the same look he gave me last night as he smiled up from between my legs.

My nipples hardened at the thought.

"Sit, I'll make you a plate." Kai put his hand on my lower back and kissed my cheek before moving into the large open kitchen and lifting the lids off the food.

"So, I have some news to share." Lucifer put his paper down, a grin, unlike any I'd seen before, spreading across his face.

Kai put my plate of biscuits and gravy, eggs, and bacon on the table. I should have known something was up with the spread Lucifer had cooked.

Ric shuffled out of the bedroom, rubbing his face with a hand. He had put on a pair of basketball shorts. I practically drooled.

He didn't go to the kitchen or come to the table. Instead, he first went to the large window overlooking the forest behind the house.

"What's your news?" Ric sat down in the chair between Kai and Lucifer.

He reached over and stole a piece of bacon off of Kai's plate. Kai glared at him but then pushed his plate in front of Ric. He was going to make a great father if his interactions with adults were any indication.

"I'm going to be a grandfather." Lucifer couldn't keep the giggle from escaping. He was beaming.

I nearly choked on the piece of biscuit in my mouth. I coughed and grabbed my cup of coffee. I stared at it and then put it down, grabbing my water instead.

"Congrats, old man." Ric laughed and smacked his back.
