I rolled over, feeling oddly refreshed for having slept on the hard ground all night. The night before was... well, I didn't have words for what it was.
Last night was all about Ric and me. It left me aching for more. More of all three of them. I ached between my legs and rolled over to find Ric in his wolf form, staring back at me.
I sat abruptly, the sleeping bag falling to my waist. Ric made a rumbling sound in his throat and sat on his haunches. Kai and Lucifer were nowhere to be seen.
I pulled on my clothes and stood, stretching. Ric watched me, a look of reverence on his face.
"Where is everyone, and why are you a wolf?" I really needed to stop talking to him when he couldn't respond. It made me feel even crazier than I already felt.
I made my way out of the cave, Ric following. I needed to find a bush, stat. After taking care of business, I headed back.
Ric jumped in front of me, growling at something to my left. The hairs on my arms stood on end, and I looked to the tree-line where his growls were directed.
"There's something out there," I whispered.
Ric was still looking out into the forest, his hair bristling, his teeth bared. Out of the tree-line, four women emerged. They walked so quietly that they didn't make any sounds. It was like their feet weren't even touching the ground.
"Thank you for bringing her home." The woman at the front spoke in a low, deep voice that sounded foreign, like it didn't belong to her small frame.
I looked more closely at the women and could see their eyes were completely black. Under their skin were the tiniest sparkles that looked like spiderwebs.
My stomach dropped as they moved closer. Ric moved in front of me, his growl more menacing. He was warning them to stay away from me.
I felt the spiders come to life inside me and dropped to my knees. I dug my nails into the dirt and leaves, trying to stop them. It was too soon for them to come out.
The four women laughed. "Let her go, wolf. She's holding back her spiders. She doesn't want to hurt you."
Ric jumped forward towards the women. I couldn't speak to tell him not to. Spiders, their own spiders, poured from them and jumped on him.
I let out a strangled cry before my own spiders took over everything.
