I really wanted to, but when I looked around, there were a lot of eyes on us, including Ric's and Lucifer's. Ric looked slightly murderous, and Lucifer was unreadable. I didn't know which was more frightening.
"Probably not right now."
We made our way back upstairs, with Lucifer and Ric trailing behind. Even though I had been kissing Kai, I was grateful that Ric didn't appear to have kissed anybody. But I couldn't be sure because I had been lip-locked.
It was quieter upstairs. The awkwardness that hung over us was even more apparent. We had all just settled back into the booth when Lucifer's cell phone rang.
He answered it with a frown. "I hope you're calling me to wish me a happy new year... You're joking, right?… I'm ready… I'll bring Alaric."
He hung up his cell phone and slid out of the booth. Ric looked at him with raised eyebrows and slid out after him.
"A few demons have decided to have some fun on the Santa Monica pier. Let's go." Without waiting for a response from Ric, he headed for the stairs.
