Reaching underneath my drawers, I grab my gun that’s taped underneath and check that the safety is on before I place it in my bag underneath my clothes.
Once done, I open my door to discuss a few things with my dad. When I do, Nelly is standing on the other side, wearing a short military skirt and black lace crop top, revealing her hot pink bra and knee-high boots. She dresses like a hooker about to go work on the streets.
“What is it, Nelly?”
She tilts her head to the side and twirls her long blonde curls in her fingers. “The talk is you’re going on a ride for a few days. I was just wondering—”
“Don’t, Nelly,” I interrupt, knowing exactly where this leads.
“But—”
“But nothing,” I reply by pushing her out of the way, then shutting my door behind me.
“You used to like what I did for you.”
Snapping my head to face her, I growl, “That was three years ago. I have a woman now. Let it the fuck go. Find yourself some other brother who wants to fuck your cheap ass.”
Her mouth opens wide, and before she can say anything, I storm down the hallway toward the main room.
Chapter Six
SERENA
“What the hell do I wear to this signing, Liv?”
“Serena, you think too much about clothes. We’re at a book signing. For me, I need to be comfy. That’s why I’m in my jeans, sweater, and Converse.”
Glancing at Liv, who always looks beautiful no matter what she’s wearing, I open my closet and think. “Okay, I’ll wear jeans too. And my favorite top.”
Removing my leggings, I put on my dark blue denim jeans and tuck my black T-shirt into them. I then grab my favorite belt, leather boots, and leather jacket.
“Going for the biker-chick look?” Liv asks, giving me a cheeky grin. “You know you don’t have to dress like a biker just because MC authors are there, right?”
Staring at myself in the mirror, I reply, “I know that, but I love this jacket,” I say, feeling the smoothness of the material under my fingers.
“I can’t believe we’re going to meet J.A. Collard. She’s coming all the way from Australia,” Liv says.
Instantly, I remember her first book,Tame Me. “Oh my God, yesss. How could I forget Quill fromTame Me? He’s my all-time favorite book boyfriend. I remember how I couldn’t leave my room until I finished that book.”
“Well, I pre-ordered it,” Liv says, winking. “If only I can find a man like Quill or Hawke. Definitely not in the Sub Rosa MC.”
I chuckle, remembering the men at the club.
“Mm… I don’t know. Think I’m pretty lucky. I got a biker who’s very close to Quill. Actually, he is Quill,” I comment, my hands on my hips. “Shit, I do have that love story.”
“Oh, please, no one can live up to that man, and you’re making me feel sick talking about Harley like that. He’s so ugly, I don’t know what you see in him?”
We both burst out laughing, knowing that what she’s saying is so not true. I can’t even walk down the street or go to the movies without women’s eyes lingering on him. He is drop-dead gorgeous, and I know I’m one lucky girl to have him.
“Actually, he could be one of those models on the book covers.”
“Oh please, Serena, you are seriously blind. He’s no model.”
“Well, I think he is. Maybe I’ll show J.A. Collard his photograph.”
Liv covers her face with her hands. “Oh, God. Seriously, Serena… you can’t do that. How embarrassing would that be? I’m interested in seeing other models.”
“Not me,” I reply, shutting my closet door and grabbing my crossover bag. “I have all the man I need.”
