Greer

Reign wades farther into the water until it passes my belly button. It’s not freezing, but it sends a shiver throughout my body. Looping my arms under his, I snuggle closer to his tattooed chest. He’s covered in those same runes and sigils that I’ve seen peeking out of his clothing, and they travel up to frame the shaved sides of his head.

Being nude doesn’t make me uncomfortable, in general, but I barely know this guy. Not only that, I’m unsure where we are or how we got here. My head feels heavy, and everything becomes muted the more I try to think about it.

“Shh,” he murmurs, sliding a hand into my hair at the base of my skull. “Settle those thoughts. Stay here in the moment with me.” He tugs me backward until I float in the water.

My feet dig into his bare ass, and I do my best to keep my face from submerging. He runs his fingers through my hair and helps keep me up with his palm on my lower back. We both have gray eyes, which isn’t unusual as far as fae are concerned, but I believe he’s mixed with something more.

Dark shadows swirl out of his skin, wrapping around me. They keep me from sinking when he pulls his hand from my back to rinse the blood from my chest. The black runes on hisfingers are such a stark contrast to his pale skin that it’s almost mesmerizing to watch as he cups the water, pouring it over my breasts.

“What a perfect set of tits to keep for eternity.” A playful smirk tips at his lips and dimples appear in his cheeks. He keeps his eyes on mine, even when he begins to rub away the stained blood from right between my breasts.

I try to focus on his handsome face, but that seems kind of dangerous when my pussy floats just above his cock. The more I tighten my feet on his ass, the closer it pulls my core to his pelvis.

“See, now we’re all set back to rights.”

My lips push together.

How can I make out his words when my ears are underwater?

This has to be a dream.

Reign rubs the side of my breast, removing the stained blood while his other hand continues to cradle my skull.

His shadows help lift me until the water no longer threatens to spill onto my face. My heart thunders as he bends closer, making his whitish-blond hair fall over his forehead.

“Are you feeling better?” he asks, pulling me up until I’m vertical and no longer submerged in the water.

“Yeah, I think so.” I nod, and my wet hair cascades over my shoulders.

“Good.”

He wades up and out of the ocean, but I don’t realize that we’re in motion until the cool water disappears from my lower half. It’s replaced by the night air against my skin, making me shiver.

Reign is devastatingly handsome. There’s no doubt about that. His scruff frames his narrow but strong jaw, and combined with his glittering eyes, it’s almost impossible to force myself to look away.

It’s dark, but I’m able to make out about thirty or forty feet of beach. Behind that is grass that gives way to small trees and larger ones in the distance. It’s beautiful and nothing like the beaches I’ve visited in the human realm.

“You visited this place with your family?” I ask and grimace. He did say that. My brain doesn’t seem to be fully functioning right now, and I don’t have the first idea why. “Sorry. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”

“I did, and don’t stress. I’m right here with you, and I’m not going anywhere.” He comes to a stop and hits his knees before lowering me to the ground.

I expect to hit the sand, but my back lands on fabric and even a pillow for my head. Peeking around, there’s a large blanket spread out beneath us with two pillows next to one another.

I unlock my feet from where they’ve been linked together behind his ass, and my legs fall to the ground.

Reign smirks, his palm landing next to my head as he stretches over me. His free hand moves to my cheek, and he thumbs my lower lip.

I frown as he pulls it down.

“I’m still surprised.” He chuckles, teasing my lip as he lets it fall back into place. “Out of all of us, Seiran is the least likely to act rashly. That tells me you’re not only stunning but something truly special.”

“No.” My head shakes as my face heats.

His fingers hold me in place, and he lowers until his lips nearly touch mine. “Oh, yes. You tempted my best friend when he’s been starving himself for five years. And don’t try to pretend that you didn’t let him feed from you. He clearly did. I’ve watched over him, admittedly from afar, and he was fading exponentially. His skin is more vibrant, and he no longer has that sunken look to his eyes.”

My heart races.
