“And we know how. We figured that out. We built our worlds --- that makes us gods but that’s an old, tired word, huh? That makes us our own ancestors and we’ll circle back around. Hell, Starscale 1 has been here so long we could’ve laid in this exact same spot and had a similar conversation before. We probably didn’t but we could’ve!”
“I’d talk to you anywhere about anything in your life.”
“Just my life, huh?” he laughed, twisting the lid back on the bottle. “We’ve both had enough of that, I think. But just my life, huh?”
“Don’t. Not right now, mate,” I shook my head. “How important is the past? I’m here with you now, huh?”
“Don’t steal my word!” he laughed. “Huh belongs to me.”
“I thought mates shared everything!”
“Nope. You get your secrets, and I get huh!”
“Can I get a kiss then?”
“That I can do,” he nodded and scooted closer.
It was a sloppy, tipsy kiss but I still loved his lips moving against mine. I could’ve kissed this dragon forever.
“I’m gonna suck your secrets out of your tongue,” he laughed and kissed me again.
“Ouch!” I pulled away, sticking my tongue out of my mouth trying to look down at it. “Did you bite my tongue?”
“Sorry! Here let me kiss it and make it better,” he said, leaning close to me again.
I put an arm around his shoulders and pulled him back down onto the blanket. He rested his head on my chest and a second later broke out in a fit of giggles. He was right. We hadenough whiskey. Hell, we probably had enough whiskey several swigs ago.
“I didn’t mean to try to eat you,” he laughed, and I hugged him tighter to me, intending to never let him go.
“I want you to have my baby,” I said.
The words tumbled off my tongue before I knew what they were going to be. They were true. Some of the truest I’d spoken in a long ass time.
“I want that too,” he nodded, pushing against me so he could sit up. “I really want that!”
“We’re drunk, though,” I announced.
“Yeah. We are. Are your sperm drunk too?” he asked. “Does that happen? Are they gonna get lost if we try right now? I bet they won’t stop and ask for directions either. Alpha sperm and all.”
“Uhhh---- I don’t know,” I laughed, stretching out on my back. “I don’t know if sperm can get lost. I think it’s a one-way street. It’s not like they can back--- Actually they can, huh?”
We both broke down into laughter again and I pulled Tritus on top of me to hug him tight to my chest. He was so fucking perfect. He deserved that fucking perfect life that he wanted. I could give that to him. I’d just have to figure out how.
We didn’t go all the way that night. He was too drunk for that, and I was just sober enough to know that. Sure, everything we said was true, but those words would be just as true come morning light.
“I’ll put a baby in you tomorrow,” I said, turning onto my side and hugging him close. “Tomorrow when we’re not so drunk.”
“I don’t want to go to bed.”
“You have to sleep eventually.”
“Yeah, but not in bed. Bed is so far away, and it doesn’t have wings or feet. Why can’t the bed come pick us up, mate?”
“I don’t know,” I laughed and kissed his forehead. “We can sleep out here for a while. I’ll keep you safe and warm.”
I pulled up one side of the blanket and wrapped it around him as much as I could. He was a dragon too, but he was also an omega and that meant he probably got cold a little quicker than I would. Maybe that was outdated science. I wasn’t sure anymore even when I was sober. I’d have to ask Castor later or maybe Izora. The latter was the doctor after all.
“Don’t run away again.”
