Silence.

I opened my mouth to scream, and a sharp metal blade slid up my spine.

“I wouldn’t make another sound,” a voice menaced, low and mean in my ear. “I don’t give a fuck whether the boss wants you. You’re dead.”

ANGELO

“What doyou mean she’s missing? Where the fuck is she?” I growled, sweat pouring down my face from my early morning workout.

She hadn’t returned last night after she dashed out of the reading. My father, the fucking idiot, assumed she came in and went to bed, and only realized she was missing the next morning when she didn’t come down for breakfast.

He was so used to women being biddable pawns that it never even occurred to him that Ana might not obey his strictures.

“Are you sure she didn’t run away?” I asked, barely controlling the anger sizzling through my veins. I knew she hadn’t. Ana confronted problems head on, and she had the scars from her father to prove it.

“My men found signs of a struggle close to the edge of the property this morning. Her footprints stopped and were joined by several others, and there were tire tracks nearby.”

Fury with my father warred with the fear in my chest. I punched through the wall in the gym, hoping the movement would help me calm down. Instead, it gained the attention of the Costa soldiers who worked out beside me in the compound gym. They stopped their workouts, staring at me as I paced back and forth. This was why I didn’t want to rule—too many secrets, too much responsibility.

Possible outcomes for Ana whirled through my brain—kidnapped, raped, forced to marry for her name. I punched the wall again. The damage was already done, why not compound it?

My father scoffed. “Are you done throwing a temper tantrum? I lost my eldest son, our American operations are in shambles, and my granddaughter is missing. You don’t see me taking out my rage on the walls.”

Fuck him. I was going to find the men that took her, gut them, then feed their entrails to them before carving their hearts out with spoons. I’d spent my entire life as his attack dog, and now I’d do it on Ana’s behalf.

“I’ll find her,” I vowed.

“No,” my father said. “You stay there and consolidate power. I’ll put my men on finding her.”

The fuck he would. Ana was mine, and I would tear the world apart until I found her.

“I will find her,” I said firmly. “You don’t give a fuck about the American operation. You never have. You let Gio run it because if he fucked it up, it wouldn’t have an impact on your real money makers—the drugs you run through Europe.”

“Don’t you dare,” he growled, but I’d already hung up the phone.

Io

Ana’s missing.

Luca Russo

What??

Why are you contacting me?

Io

Because you couldn’t keep your dick out of her. If she contacts you, let me know.

Luca Russo

What the fuck is going on?

He called me, and I sent him straight to voicemail while I called Valentin.

“Ana’s missing,” I said as soon he picked up.
