“He’s my friend. He runs the best cyber tech and security firm in the country.”
“Oh,” I mumbled. “Like important people from the Alacteon Club?”
“Yes, sweetheart like important people from the Alacteon Club.” He kissed the side of my head, though his tone sounded mocking.
“You took E to the club?” Mikey snickered, the mischievousness back in his eyes again.
“Yes, asshole, but it’s time for you to leave, or I’ll have the immense pleasure of handing your ass to you.”
“What!? Am I not staying for dinner.” Mikey frowned.
“Get the fuck out now.”
“Fine, but don’t come crying back that you miss me,” he joked, laughing as he walked out. “You kids practice safe sex; I don’t want to be an uncle this soon.”
Heat blazed the tip of my nose.
Jay threw a pillow down his disappearing back while the asshole laughed louder.
“So what do you say?” Jay caught my earlobe between his lips.
“About what?” I mumbled, the electricity from his touch swimming straight between my thighs.
“Shall we practice some safe sex?”
“Jay, we can’t keep having sex all the time,” I protested weakly. I didn’t even know why I did it because I fucking wanted him now.
“We have six years to make up for.”
I swallowed. “Fine,” I said, tuning my voice as strong as I could. “But you’re still not my boyfriend.”
“How about I show you how much of a boyfriend material I can be?”
“Yes,” I agreed, anticipation and need crowding my blood.
And he did just that.
All night long.
CHAPTER 31
“Move in with me,” Jay pleaded for the tenth time this week.
“No.” I cuddled closer to Strawberry.
“But you’re here most of the time. Even she likes it here.” He pointed at my best friend, who was whining happily down my lap.
“It’s been only two weeks, Jay. I’m not jinxing shit by taking this too fast. Remember all the times we disagreed and separated in a matter of months? Plus, you’re not yet my boyfriend. And…” I held up my pointer finger. “The only reason I’m here all the time is because you keep kidnapping us and bringing us here.”
“It’s not kidnapping. You consensually packed your bags for the weekend.” He slouched over the couch, bouncing a tennis ball in his hand.
“Well, imagine if I didn’t agree.” I scratched Strawberry behind her ears. “Daddy would’ve kidnapped us kicking and screaming, right baby?”
Her response was a cute bark like she was agreeing with me.
“I’m her daddy but not your boyfriend?” He raised a brow in question.
“Well, you can be my daddy too.”
