I laughed. “Why do I feel like that describes everybody in the LeBlanc-Broussard mansion?”

“Because it does. There was only one thing missing.”

“What?”

“You.”

Oh, goodness. What exactly did he mean? That he would’ve liked me to join his family for Thanksgiving? Nah, that couldn’t be.

“And by the way, I’ve made reservations for our Réveillon dinner,” he added.

“Where?”

“A restaurant that you’ll love in the French Quarter. Can’t give you any details, though.”

“Why not? I want to look it up online.”

“Doesn’t have a web page. In fact, most people don’t even know it exists.”

“Huh. Now I’m starting to worry that you’re going to lure me into a dark alley and have your way with me.”

He growled. “Don’t say that twice or I might come knocking at your door right now.”

Heat coursed through me, and I realized that I actually wanted that. God, I’d never been so reckless.

“When are we going?” I asked, trying to redirect my thoughts.

“Next Friday.”

I grinned into the darkness. “That’s great. It gives me enough time to put together a perfect outfit.”

“Bailey, you’ll look gorgeous no matter what.”

I shimmied under the sheets, yawning.

“I’ll let you sleep.”

“But I love talking to you.”

I yawned again, though, and he laughed.

“Good night, Bailey.”

“Good night.”

But after hanging up, I didn’t go to sleep. I was too excited about our upcoming date, so I went to my favorite online shop. It had super-fast delivery.

I eyed a dark green dress that was to die for. It was a bit expensive, but I could definitely afford it. I wanted to spoil myself. And since I was already splurging on a dress, I also added shoes. One could never have enough shoes.

I was going to knock him off his feet. I was sure of it.

Chapter Fifteen

Bailey

My dark green dress molded to my curves a little bit too much, showing off a lot of cleavage, but I loved it. I’d paired it with black high heels and was searching in my closet for a coat.
