Beth looked up to see one of her regulars walking into the bar and taking his usual spot. She smiled at him as she walked over and grabbed a glass and poured his favorite drink to place in front of him.
“Hey, Jake. It’s going good. How are things with you? You ask Polly out yet?”
“Yep. I took your advice and asked her out. She’s actually meeting me here tonight for a drink before we go out to dinner. I’m taking her to that new restaurant that just opened over in Cedar City.”
“Good job. I’ll keep my fingers crossed everything goes well for you!”
“Thanks, doll. Any more issues with that asshat that won’t leave you alone?”
Beth took a deep breath and slowly let it out. Since she had landed back in KY and returned to the bar, there has been nothing but drama.
She had closed the bar for the week that she was gone to the UK. A sign had been put on the inside of the door facing out letting patrons know that the bar would be closed for a week.
She’d even put a notice in the newspaper letting people know that the bar would be closed since she was going to be out of town to gather herself after finding her groom boinking one of the waitresses in the church the day of their wedding. She hadalso stated in the same editorial and sign that Haley was fired, and Doug was no longer allowed on the premises.
When she got back into town, the day after, Doug and Haley both showed up at the bar during business hours and showed their asses. She called the police and had them escorted out of the bar.
Haley threatened her and attempted to smack her the next time she showed up when the bar opened and promptly got her tail handed to her. She hadn’t seen Haley since that day.
Doug was another matter. He showed up every other day demanding she apologize to him and that she owed him money for how she embarrassed him.
He threatened to sue her for the bar and that when he won, he would tear it down. That threat went out the window when she informed him that she didn’t own the bar, and he would have to find the owners in the UK and go through them.
Then there was her biggest surprise ever. Six weeks after returning home, she found out she was indeed pregnant from her time with the three hot Scottish men in Scotland.
She hadn’t heard from any of them, nor had she expected to since that time. While she had hoped to have at least heard from Brodie, since Mac had been his uncle and the bar technically belonged to him or his mother, she’d only had radio silence.
While she kind of expected the radio silence, it still hurt her heart that it happened. At least she had her baby to remember that week by for the rest of her life.
“When were you going to tell me that you were pregnant with my kid, you bitch?”
Beth looked up into the glaring eyes of Doug as he stormed up the bar, his hand slamming down hard. Well shit, so much for a decent night.
“Probably because I’m not pregnant with your kid, asshole! Obviously, you fell asleep during sex ed. A woman is pregnantfor nine months after conception. I only slept with you once, and your sorry dick couldn’t even take my virginity properly. If by some miracle I had gotten knocked up by your pathetic dick that night, the child would be at least seven months old by now. My actual v-card was taken by real men while I was in Scotland. Asshat!”
Beth lost her patience with the asshole as he glared at her with each word. She was done with his shit for good.
“Men? You put out in the local newspaper about me and Haley fucking on our wedding day and you had sex with multiple men? You’re a fucking whore! I bet you weren’t even a fucking virgin when I stuck my dick in you. You were a lousy lay! I bet that you’re going to be raising that bastard alone, too. They probably realized what a lousy fuck you were, just like I did!”
“Actually, you arse, we were out of the country taking care of terrorists who had more balls than you do. Call our woman a whore one more time and I’ll personally cut what cock you have off and shove it up your arse!”
CHAPTER 19
Beth looked towards the door at Brodie’s dark warning to Doug. She gasped when she saw not only Brodie but Jack, and Angus all standing there with Brodie at the helm.
“Who the fuck are you?” Doug demanded whirling around towards the men.
“The men who are going to make you wish you’d never threatened our woman. Beth, lass, please tell me this isn’t the pissant you had planned to marry? I can see now why my uncle didn’t like him.”
Beth couldn’t help the tears flowing down her face. She was afraid to look away for fear it was all a dream.
“Fuck you! You can have the bitch…”
Doug didn’t get to finish his sentence because as soon as he called Beth a bitch, he was out cold on the ground after a fist punched him in the face. Once Brodie had punched him, the entire bar erupted in cheers.
Beth watched as the three men walked behind the bar and surrounded her. When she felt each one lay a hand on her, she realized it wasn’t a dream, they were really standing in front of her and passed out.
When she came through, she was in the office on the small couch that Mac had placed in there for her to nap on when she was younger. When she moved, she felt a hand on her, stopping her from getting up.
