“This is going to be your room from now on,” he said, like this place would be my final abode.
As if.
“Just try to stay under the radar, and everything will be fine,” he advised.
I didn’t want to shatter his belief and tell him I’d be running away from here at the first opportunity.
He entered behind me. “There’s a bedroom over there,” he said, pointing to the left. “And the kitchen is here. Usually, you won’t be using the kitchen because all of us eat in Alpha’s house.”
“Alpha?” I said. I’d heard him say it before, but my mind was still too messed up from the auction to ask about it then. It was a funny way to address the boss.
He coughed. “I mean, our boss, Talon Granger.” He suppressed his lips. “Make sure you don’t approach him,” he added. “Avoid him at all costs, and if you accidentally find yourself in his presence, lower your gaze.”
I blinked. What kind of a psycho was he working for? “Thanks, Kenzie,” I said, touching his forearm. “Can you tell mewhat I’m supposed to do? Why has he bought me?” He already had Aria. Why had he paid three million dollars for me?
Kenzie placed a finger on my lips and looked warmly at me. “Don’t worry, Kimble. I’ll find out for you soon. Until then, stay low, okay?”
For the first time, I smiled. Unable to control my emotions, starved of human love, I hugged him tightly. “If I survive this next month until my birthday, I’ll celebrate it with you.”
Kenzie froze for a moment before wrapping me in brawny arms. “I know you’re afraid, but I’m here. Talon’s never bought a servant that way, but we’ll see how this goes.”
Chapter 5
Talon
I asked Kenzie to give her the last room on the second floor through mind link because that was the room overlooking my balcony. Honestly, I didn’t want to see her at all, but Lupin demanded it.
Werewolves despise humans.
In our community, we rarely have human mates and if we do, we reject them instantly. Marriages aren’t frowned upon, they’re despised, often to the level of wolves getting expelled from their packs. Werewolf and human matches are forbidden.
The only reason we hate humans is because they can’t handle our basic needs. We’re stronger. Our cocks are bigger, and she-wolves are lustier than human females. They fuck us better than humans can. Besides, our cocks wouldn’t fit inside humans. How could a lowly human compare to us?
So yeah, I didn’t know why I bought Kimble. She was a disaster in the making and I had to get rid of her before she became my ruin.
“Alpha Talon,” Aria’s soft voice emerged from the bathroom. “Join me.”
Yes. Aria. She was the woman I had to focus on. Though Lupin wanted to come out. The need to shift was overtaking my senses. My body was taut with tension. I needed to let some steam off, and only shifting and letting my wolf run free was going to help me.
“Alpha Talon?” she called again.
I tamped down my wolf and joined Aria. She pleasured me again by going down on her knees. And as I climaxed, I envisioned someone else’s swollen lips around my cock. Shoving the frustrating images out of my mind, I went to bed with Aria.
Though I was tired, and needed to sleep badly, sleep was nowhere near. All these fucking problems were because Kimble’s scent was invading my senses. I remembered how my wolf growled when he scented her sweet honeysuckle and cinnamon smell. It reminded me of home, of memories I wanted to bury in my past and move forward.
My father, the former Alpha of the Umbra pack, brutally whipped me, forcing me to shift when I was ten. My mother tried to intervene but he beat her so badly that she ended up with two broken ribs and a fractured arm. Just so he didn’t beat her again, I forced myself to shift. That day, I couldn’t and vomited. He dragged me to a dark basement and threw me inside for two days to talk to my wolf and coax him out.
Aria was sleeping beside me, under the comforter. One of her breasts peeked out. She had smooth skin that felt good under my calloused hands. I brought my finger to her nipple and rolled it. She immediately responded with a moan. That’s what I liked about her. Just as I was about to bring my mouth to her nipple, I heard a whimper followed by a soft humming. My wolf jumped up inside me. “No!” I growled at him, forcing him to go down. I latched onto Aria’s nipple and closed my eyes to focus on what I was doing. She moaned and arched her back.
The humming increased, irritating me, diverting me. I was a werewolf who was always focused. No one had the audacity to disturb me. Everyone walked on eggshells around me and I damn well knew it. That was what I wanted.
I yanked the comforter off me, leaving Aria confused, and stormed to the balcony door, ready to shout for the guards and order that little devil thrown into the dungeons for disturbing me. But then her scent, mixed with a hint of lavender, hit my nostrils. My eyes immediately locked onto her room, where the bathroom light was on.
“Fuck!” I leaned on the balustrade, clutching the rail for my life. My claws slipped out, puncturing the wood as I stood there hypnotized.
I needed to resist the devil for more reasons than I cared to admit. She was a minor, she was a tiny, timid, despicable human, and she barely had the strength or intelligence of a werewolf.
Her humming broke into a soft tenor as she began singing the Nelly Furtado song “I’m Like a Bird.”
