His toned ass flexes, creating indentations in the muscles as he presses himself against her. Even through his thin pants, I admire the way the dips form and make me want to run my tongue through the valleys.

He always has been effortlessly sexy.

Ruby’s eyes fly open and lock on mine before dropping to where my hand drags along my cock, enjoying the show. She squeaks again as she slaps at Cas’s shoulders, and he’s heavy-lidded and dazed as he pulls his lips from hers.

“Don’t let me interrupt,” I drawl, and her cheeks turn positively pink as she ducks her face into Cas’s chest, effectively hiding herself from me.

He glances over his shoulder and heaves a sigh, despite the flare of heat in his eyes as he watches me. “You’re a menace.”

I shrug. “You’re the one that called me here. Might as well make things interesting.”

Cas encases Ruby in his protective arms and curls himself around her. “Amon, give us a few minutes alone, okay?”

“Am I to remain in this attic?” I ask, surveying the dusty space with a frown.

“Ruby?” Cas asks, sickeningly gentle with his weak little human woman. “It’s your house.”

“Stay here for now,” she says, offering me a smile that’s apologetic as I keep my expression blank. When they open the door to leave, a cat darts into the room and brushes against my legs. “Shadow!” Ruby shouts, but I wave her off.

“Do not worry, witch. Cats and demons are very similar. We’re like old friends.”

“Don’t hurt her,” she says, inflection in her words that straightens my spine as the command registers. My brow cocks as I glance at her, surprised at the power behind her order.

The human might know how to play, after all.

Chapter 10

Casimir

My arm is on her lower back, guiding her through the house until we step into her bedroom and close the door behind us. “Demons have exceptional hearing,” I explain, turning to face her. My usual playfulness is missing as I put my hands on my hips and heave a loud sigh, bracing myself for the conversation ahead.

“I am… sorry.” The last word fights its way out. “It was wrong of me to summon Amon without discussing it with you first. I do know that, I swear. But you were hellbent on sending me back. Did you not…” I pause, frustration welling up inside me at her willingness to just toss me aside. “Were you not even going to miss me?”

“Of course I was,” she says with a shake of her head, “but that didn’t give you the right to….” Something clicks in her brain as the words stall out. “Wait a second. As a witch, I command you, correct?” I nod, eyes never leaving hers. “How come youcould go through all of that, prepare the spell and summon him, without me telling you to?”

My lips tug between my teeth as I give a small grimace, anticipating the aftermath from the answer. “The link between us doesn’t take away my free will. I can do whatever I please, unless you’ve given me a specific command. You told me to remain in the house. There’s no limit to what I do while I’m here, but I can’t leave.” She nods, her face carefully neutral, and I wave a vague gesture towards the ceiling. “When you commanded Amon to stay in the attic and instructed him not to hurt Shadow, he’s bound to obey.”

“What happens if he doesn’t?”

One of my shoulders lifts in a shrug. “Depends on the witch. For the more… sinister… of your kind, disobeying an order would be immediate death, if the caster were powerful enough. It comes down to your will and what you want to happen if your orders are disobeyed. Amon might experience extreme pain if he attempts to leave the attic, or if he tries to hurt Shadow—” I shake my head as panic takes over her face. “He won’t, Ruby. Ignoring his flare for dramatics, he’s not a bad guy. But if hewere, hypothetically, that pain might reflect on him. Magic isn’t an exact science, as I’m sure you’ve figured out by now.”

The gears in her mind are practically grinding out loud as she thinks. “I never explicitly commanded you to cast a specific spell.”

“Correct,” I say, voice cautious.

Another moment passes in silence before she nods again, crossing her arms over her chest. “You took advantage of my lack of knowledge.”

“I did,” I admit, quieter still, and she sighs. “Please understand that my intention wasn’t to hurt you. I panicked. You expected a spell out of me, and this was one that I knew we could perform without putting you in any danger.”

“And you had a good chuckle while your buddy smacked me with his dick.”

An unexpected laugh bursts out of me, my abs still sore from the fit of laughter earlier, and I turn to find her stifling her own smile. “It was… perhaps unnecessary.”

“Perhaps?” Her eyebrows fly up as she snorts, shaking her head once again.

Both of our smiles fade, though, as we look at each other, the air suddenly heavy between us. “I wasn’t ready to leave you,” I whisper, placing a gentle hand on her jawline, and she leans into my touch.

“You mean you weren’t ready to leave the realm.”
