“I would lovethat. Let me just make sure Jens is okay with his baby sister following him.”

She chuckled.“Fair enough. But if he gives you trouble, let me know. I’ll set Ropes on him.”

“Like hell youwill,” Ropes countered. “He’s doin’ a back piece for me next week and I’m notjeopardizing that.”

“Don’t worry.” Igrinned. “I can fight my own battles.”

Devlin laughed.“I’ll get your number from Spike and we’ll go from there.”

“Sounds great,” Isaid, and followed Spike to one of the empty tables.

We were halfwaythrough our meal when a tall, model-gorgeous woman stormed outside and straightover to Knight. “The asshole is breaking the lease.”

“Why?” Knightasked.

Kim cocked her head.“Does it matter?”

“Is he paying thefee?”

“Of course he’spaying the fee,” she said in a huff. “He knows who I’m married to.”

“Then what’s theissue?”

“The issue,Aidan,is that now I have to find another tenant and it’s virtually impossible to findgood ones.”

“Trixie’s lookin’for a place,” Spike said.

“Spike,” I hissed,mortified that he’d butted in.

Spike smiled.“Sorry, didn’t mean to interrupt.”

The woman steppedover to us. “Are you Trixie?”

I nodded, wipingmy hands before holding one out. “Hi.”

“Hi. I’m Kim.” Shenodded toward Knight. “I’m married to the giant god over there.”

I glanced atSpike. “I don’t actually know if I can afford a new place. Where is it?”

“In the Pearl.”

I let out a quietsnort. “Um, no, I definitely can’t afford anything in the Pearl.”

“Yes you can,” shecountered.

“I don’t have ajob.”

“You will,” Spikesaid. “Devlin’s hiring you.”

“You don’t knowthat,” I countered. “I might not be right for the job. I don’t want to makecommitments I can’t keep.”

“Will you fill outan application anyway?” Kim asked. “Spike can bring you by the place next week. The guy I have in there is supposed to be out by Thursday.”

“I don’t know—”

“We’ll come by onFriday,” Spike said. “I’ll text Knight and set it up.”

Her face lit upwith a smile. “Perfect.”
