“Then we are on the same page,” Jaxon said, extending a hand to Minus, which he shook.
“Just so we’re clear though,” Minus said, pulling Jaxon closer. “He comes back any more fucked up than he already is, I’m likely to violate that immunity deal pretty quickly.”
“This is going to work.”
“It better,” Minus said.

Wolf hung up, put hisphone in his kutte pocket, and slowly looked around the room to each of us. Present were Trunk, Flash, Slammer, who had now recovered enough from his knife injuries to ride, as well as veterans, Vega and Carver.
“The young lion has shown his throat even sooner than expected,” Wolf said as he paced the room.
“Your plan worked, then?” Trunk asked, with a smile.
“Maybe too well,” Wolf said slowly, as if working out a problem in his head.
“What do you mean? What did Minus say?”
“He’s agreed to the meeting between me and Sweet Pea.”
“Isn’t that what you wanted?”
“He says he wants peace and he’s willing to do whatever it takes, but I’m not buying it. He’s up to something. I just don’t know what.”
I concentrated on my breathing and reminded myself that Wolf’s suspicious nature would play to our advantage. In fact, we were counting on it.
“So, what’s the plan?” Trunk asked.
“I gave Minus the time and location. If he shows up with the cripple and hands him over to me without any issues, I’ll hear him out,” Wolf said.
“Really?”
“Yeah, right after I put a bullet through Sweet Pea’s neck.”
I steadied my nerves and made sure not to react.
Wolf continued, “I told Minus, if I liked what I heard from Sweet Pea, I’d consider their surrender, but all I want to hear from Sweet Pea is the gurgling in his throat as he chokes to death on his own blood.”
“And you really think Minus is just going to hand his lamb over for you to slaughter?” Trunk asked.
“I’m not going to give him a choice,” Wolf said with a sneer.
