“Do you want to open one of yours too?” I asked, setting my drink on the coffee table.
“Nah.” His head shook as he handed me the small box. “I have all I need having you and my son here with me.”
The left side of my mouth lifted in a smile as I gripped his chin and used it to pull him to my lips. I figured that was what he was going to say, but I’d gone all out for him anyway, just I’d like done EJ. He sat next to me, and the cocky grin on his face made it clear he believed I was going to love whatever he got.
In the small box was a ring box, and my heart dropped.
Was he about to propose?
I looked at him, and before I could question him, he told me to open it.
When I opened the box and saw the QR code, a low, “Hmm,” escaped me. Brows knitted and head tilted, I looked at him again. He didn’t give me any kind of hint, so I grabbed my phone to scan it. Only a few seconds passed before a listing for a plot of land came up. My eyes bounced from SOLD in bold, red letters to the amount of acres.
Jerking my head in his direction, I blinked back tears.
“Is this mine?” I choked out, refusing to believe he’d gotten me forty-five acres of land for my building. After getting the scholarship, I wasn’t expecting any help with the building. I didn’t know why I thought that. He told me he was going to take care of me and help in any way possible, and Elias had always been a man of his word.
“It is. Once you finalize the blueprint with Dixon, he’ll have his team get started on the building. By the middle of next year, your building for The Masterpiece Mission will be complete.”
“Ah!” I yelled, hopping into his arms. As I smothered his face with kisses, he laughed and held me close. “Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love you! Thank you so much!”
“Thank you for letting me help. I meant it when I said I was proud of you, and I’m simply honored to be involved.”
“Baby,” I whined, wiping away tears. “Thank you for cultivating me and motivating me to be better. I am who I am because of you and our son. I can’t thank you enough.”
“You can thank me by continuing to do great things for yourself and the world. Trust me, that’s all the thanks I need.”
I gave him a quick kiss before confessing, “I thought this was a ring. I still want one.”
As we laughed, he casually reached behind his back. “Like this?”
My eyes blurred as I stared at the pear-shaped ring. It was huge. At least eight to ten carats. Even though I was just joking about it, he’d completely caught me off guard. I couldn’t even speak as my tears fell.
“This what you want?” he asked in that low tone that always made my pussy pulse.
“Mhm.” Bobbing my head, I looked into his eyes.
His smile was soft, barely there, as he slipped the ring onto my finger.
“You were mine yesterday, today, and forever more. It’s about time you got yo’ shit together so I could make you my wife.”
I sucked my teeth and laughed as I wrapped my arms around his neck.
“Thank you for being patient with me.”
“Thank you proving the wait was worth it.”
Our lips connected, and between kisses, I confessed, “I love you so much, Elias.”
“I know, and I love you too.”
The End
