“Perfect,” Zoey said, “I hate cooking.”

The rest of the ride was silent as they all dozed off lulled by the quiet and smooth ride of the limo.

Gabe and his band mates sat down at the bar for a cold beer after loading up their equipment.

“Hey dude, didn’t know you were a descendant of Sir Lancelot,” Jake ribbed his friend.

“Yeah, what was that all about?” Derek asked.

“That was about one beautiful woman,” Nate said interjected.

“Hey, that guy was getting way too aggressive and I couldn’t let it go by without stepping in before it went too far,” Gabe said. "By the way, her name is Annie, we met last year at the farm. I was still with Sydney at the time,” he shared, and they all collectively groaned at the mention of his ex-girlfriend.

“Man, she is bee-you-tee-ful,” Derek said admiringly.

“That she is, and she’s also smart and funny,” Gabe said.

“Oh no, our comrade has fallen again,” Billy said poking fun at Gabe.

Gabe took a long swig of his cold beer, “I’ll admit there’s something about her…”

“Why settle down when you have the whole female population falling at your feet?” Billy asked.

“I’m a one-woman kind of guy, despite how it might appear sometimes,” he said.

They all guffawed at that statement.

“You could have fooled me,” Derek teased.

“Hey so I’ve been playing the field since Sydney and I broke up…I wasn’t ready to date anyone seriously, but now, with Annie… she could make a man change his mind in a heartbeat,” he said staring off into space.

“Earth to Gabe, where in the hell did you go man?” Rocker, the drummer in the band said, snapping his fingers in front of Gabe’s face.

“La la land…or should I say the land of Annie,” Billy responded.

“Give the guy a break, he obviously has it bad,” Derek defended his friend.

“Alright let’s hit the road; we have a bit of a drive ahead of us, the life of a musician,” Gabe grinned.

“Yeah, we have it sooo rough,” Rocker added. As if to prove his point one of the female bartenders approached with a flirtatious smile and handed him her phone number jotted down on a napkin.

“Call me next time you play in the area. I could put you all up at my place,” she offered.

“We might take you up on that, Kylie,” Rocker said.

“You do that, bye now,” she said walking away.

“Now who is in La la land?” Gabe poked back.

The following morning Annie slept in until ten and was the last to get up.

Linda was alone and, as promised, curled up with a book on the back-deck lounge chair, sipping a glass of orange juice.

“Where is everybody?” Annie asked.
