Kip glanced at his buddy and they exchanged an inscrutable look, arousing Annie’s interest further. “Let’s talk about something more interesting, such as, how is it that a beauty like you happens to be tucked away in this tiny little town.” Kip said.
Annie leaned over the table to take a shot, her tight skirt showing off her curvy behind and legs that went on for miles, “I was born and raised here. I own a salon in town, The Diamond.”
“Too bad, I was going to offer to whisk you away with me,” Kip said flirting outrageously, which was just what Annie had been hoping for when she decided to hit the bar.
“Whisk me away to where?”
“Kentucky, can’t you tell by my accent?”
“I didn’t want to assume,” she said, laughing, “but yeah you have a pretty definite southern drawl.”
“Good shot,” Kip said. Annie smiled and put two more balls in before missing her third.
“Are either of you ready for another drink?” Kips friend asked.
“Yeah, put it on my tab Roy, I’ll take a shot of Kentucky bourbon along with my beer.”
“I’ll have another. The bartender knows what I’m drinking,” Annie said.
Kip walked over to Annie and put his arm around her waist. his hand resting on her hip. He was quite handsome and although flattered by the attention, and her bruised ego craving validation, she just wasn’t into him. She realized that maybe this hadn’t been the best idea after all. She only wanted Gabe.Empty.
Annie side stepped out of his arm and chalked up her cue stick before taking her last shot and sinking the eight ball. “Beat ya!”
Not to be brushed aside Kip put his arm around her again, “Annie you are about as hot as it gets. What do ya say we go back to my hotel and get to know each other a little better?” Annie tried wiggling out from his grip, but he was stronger and slightly drunk, so he didn’t pick up on her hints.
“Sorry Kip but I’m not into one-night stands,” she replied firmly, taking ahold of his arm and peeling it off her body.
Not accustomed to being rejected he persisted, “Nobody has to know but me and you. We could have some fun. I know all the ways to please a lady.”
“I’m sure that you do but the answer is still no.”
Roy returned with their drinks and Annie decided it was a good time to extricate herself. “Thanks for the game and the drink, safe travels to you both.”
“You have no idea what you’re missing. Have you heard of Worthington Farms?” Kip asked, his arrogance showing.
“No, I can’t say that I have.”
“Look it up, I’m a partner. I could fly you anywhere in the world you want to go. Wine, dine, play, whatever your heart desires. I accept that you’re not into one-night stands but how about becoming my mistress?”
“Great so you’re married? You don’t take no for an answer, do you?”
“Not when it comes to someone as stunning as you, you literally take my breath away. I am enchanted,” he said.
“You are also full of yourself, goodbye.”
Annie turned and almost ran into Bradley who had come up behind her.
“Bradley!”
“Annie, are these guys bothering you?”
“No, I’m fine.”
“Oh God, it is so good to see you!” Bradley said.
Jesus can’t a girl just go out and have a couple of drinks?“I’m just leaving, have a good night.”
“Wait, I’ll walk you to your car.”
