“You’ll kill anyone who sees my tits,” I remind him.
“It’s fucking see through? Why do you own something like that?”he asks.
“I knew I’d wear something under it. I don’t know why I bought it, it just looked pretty, okay? The thrift shop got me,” I complain.
“Aisling is good for you,”he says with a chuckle.“I’m picking you up in an hour. Please make sure you eat something, anything.”
“Yes, Sir,” I mutter before hanging up.
Changing, I make sure to wear tights underneath the skirt and a pair of knee high boots.
I never realized how much I liked shoes until I found myself barefoot more often than not.
Gazing at my hair once I’m dressed, I decide to borrow a curling iron.
Opening the door to my room, I step out to hear slight gasps.
“Hot date?” someone asks with wide eyes.
“Not hardly, but I’m supposed to look hot. I’m being dragged out by friends,” I explain.
“Are you going to curl your hair?” Meghan asks. I don’t see Benji, but figure he may be napping.
“I was thinking about it,” I admit.
“Can I help? Benji is down for a nap, but I have the monitor,” she says, showing me.
“I would love that,” I say with a nod. “Thank you.”
“You work a lot, right?” the girl who was a bitch about my search history a while back asks.
“I work and go to school,” I tell her. It’s none of her business what days I work.
“Not that you asked, but I’m glad you’re going out. It’s hard to balance everything,” she says with a shrug before disappearing into the room.
Meghan finds makeup and a curling iron in a closet that the omegas started up, so people could borrow things for self care. In the next half hour, she helps me by doing my hair and makeup. The curls are soft, while my eye makeup is done in darker colors, and my lips are a lighter shade of pink.
Looking in the mirror, my jaw drops as I see how different I appear.
“You’re amazing,” I tell her. “I can’t believe how different I look.”
“I learned through tutorials,” she says. “My passion is food, and I got a job at a restaurant, working in the kitchen. Sometimes, I like to remind myself that I’m more than the roles I play in life. A mom, omega, hard worker. They have a really amazing day care set up too, for when we are at work.”
“I love the way that you phrased that,” I say. “Sometimes, I feel like all I do is rush from one place to another, and then I have no idea what to do in the quiet.”
“I don’t find many moments like that, but it makes me feel as if I should be doing something,” she says.
Benji begins to stir and Meghan sighs. “Thank you for being part of my quiet time today,” she says. “I hope you have fun tonight.”
Saying goodbye, so she can hang with her son, I grab my phone and a crossbody bag.
