She looks up at me, wide-eyed and uncertain, and pulls her chin out of my grip. Standing, she backs up toward the doorway.
“Where you going, baby—” Mason begins, but Nim waves away his question with a slice of her hand.
“No,” she mumbles, frowning. “This…I can’t.”
We all open our mouths, but she’s already wrenching open the door. Darkness consumes her, leaving the three of us behind.
