“I thought the first time I fucked you was the best I’d ever had, but damn, baby. It just gets better. I could live in your tight little pussy.”
I grinned, basking in his words and the afterglow. “Fine by me.” He laughed and nuzzled for another moment before giving me a quick kiss and setting me down.
“In that case.” He straightened my clothes and tucked himself back in in record time, then grabbed my hand and starting dragging me again.Such aNeanderthal.
“Come on, let’s get out of here. I’m ready to go back to the hotel and at least live in your pussy until we have to leave for Rome tomorrow.”
Rome was even more beautiful than in any pictures, they hadn’t quite captured the true magnificence. I stood on the balcony of our hotel room, unable to tear my eyes from the view. “It’s absolutely gorgeous,” I breathed.
Levi came up behind me and slid his hands around my to rest on my belly, hugging me to him. “Nothing’s as gorgeous as you, baby.” He pulled my hair away from my neck and nuzzled his nose in the sensitive area below my ear. “I’m going to take a shower, want to join me?” His voice was muffled against my skin since his mouth was busy kissing my bare shoulder causing little shivers to slither down my spine. I’d changed into a sundress when we arrived and we’d gone out to explore. We’d come back a few minutes before, leaving ourselves a few hours to relax and shower before the concert.
I turned in his arms and held his face between my hands while I kissed him. It was slow and easy, no less passionate than any other time, but more savoring, a silent exchange of love. “Damn, I love you,” he mumbled against my lips before taking over the kiss, angling his head and deepening it.
When he finally let me up for air, I sucked in deep breaths. “I love you too, Levi,” I replied when I could manage to talk again. Just then, there was a knock at our door. Levi frowned, releasing me as he stomped over to answer it. I could tell he wasn’t in the mood to be nice to whoever it was because they’d interrupted our time together. So, I grabbed his arm and tugged until he stopped and looked at me. “Why don’t you go get the shower started. I’ll get the door and meet you in five minutes.”
He threw another dark look at the door, then his blue eyes returned to my face, lit with a hungry fire. “Five minutes.” He stalked to the bathroom and called out, “I’m fucking counting!” before disappearing.
I laughed, shaking my head at how ridiculous and adorable he could be, even when he was being so bossy. Opening the door, I smiled in greeting at Erin, who stood waiting on the other side. “Hey, Erin.” I gestured for her to come in but she waved me off with a smile.
“I’m just dropping off the mail before 2.0 and I leave for a little overnight.”
“I knew it!” I cheered, doing a little happy dance. “I appreciate you guys getting together, girl. Levi now owes me twenty bucks and a massage.”
Erin laughed even as her face flushed red. “Happy to help.” She winked and handed me the stack of mail before saying goodbye and practically skipping away. I shut the door and wandered to the desk, flipping through the stack. She’d brought Levi’s and mine, the stack all mixed together. I tossed each piece on the table as I went through it then froze as I stared at the last one. It couldn’t be. It was a postcard. With a chimpanzee standing in the rain dressed in a bright yellow raincoat, hat, and boots.
She wouldn’t still be sending Levi postcards after we filed the restraining order, would she? I flipped it over and read the message.
Levi,
I don’t want you borrowing her anymore. I don’t like it. I’m learning to sing so I can come take her place and you won’t need her anymore.
I read it twice more, something about the wording bothering me.
“Times up, baby!” Levi yelled. “Get your sweet ass in here!
“Um, give me just a few more minutes, babe!”
“Whoever is at the door better not be asking to borrow you because I’m not in the mood to fucking share,” he added grumpily.
Borrow.A conversation popped into my head and I blanched. Levi asking to borrow me… It couldn’t be. This had to be some kind of crazy coincidence. I lifted the card close and looked carefully at the postmark. Fucking shit on a fuckity fucking stick! It had been mailed from the town next to where my sister lived.
“Thirty seconds or I’m coming to get you and drag you in here whether you’re naked or not. You know what? I take it back, stay dressed. I’m liking the idea of peeling your wet clothes off of you.”
I jumped into action and ran over to my suitcase, shoving the card inside until I had more time to figure out how to deal with it. I knew I should tell him my suspicions but what if I was wrong? Quickly stripping, my bare feet padded over the carpet to the bathroom, silently promising to myself that if I couldn’t confirm it one way or another in a couple of days, I’d tell him.
Levi knew me too well and for the rest of the night, he didn’t buy my “I’m just tired” act when he asked me what was bothering me. At the concert, I left all of my anxieties backstage and lost myself in the performance. The high lingered when it was over, making it a little easier to mask the churning in my stomach and the ache in my heart.
I could tell Levi was worried about me and that night, we made love, soft and slow. I gave him everything, told him everything through my touch, my kisses. I poured out my heart to him as he moved inside me, whispering how much he loved me. Afterward, he pulled me close and I pretended to fall asleep immediately.
“Baby?” he asked doubtfully. I evened out my breathing and prayed he would let it go and sleep. “Don’t think I don’t know you’re awake. But you obviously need a little time, so I’ll drop it for now. Just make sure you’re ready to talk tomorrow, I won’t let you pull this shit. Shutting me out.” He kissed my temple and laid down, spooning me and pulling me in close. “I love you too much to let anything come between us.”
I blinked rapidly, trying to hold in my tears. I was fucking exhausted from keeping everything in and after silently crying for a few minutes, I fell into a fitful sleep.
The next morning, I woke to the sound of Levi’s phone ringing. He gently untangled his limbs from mine and slid from the bed. “Yeah?” he answered in a whisper. “It can’t wait?” he paused and then sighed. “Fine, I’ll meet you in ten.”
I heard rustling as he got dressed, then he was in front of me, bending down to tenderly kiss my lips. “Don’t move. I’ll be back in fifteen minutes and we’ll talk, okay?” I didn’t reply. He sighed and walked away. “I love you,” he called softly before the door clicked shut.
I flipped over onto my back and stared at the ceiling. What was I going to do?
