“Technically, it’s not called shotgun, but yes. You’ll be totally safe and it’s the fastest way. Now stop arguing with me so we can get out of here.”

“Fine, you can take a shower in Mikayla’s room, and I’ll use mine.”

Hustling down the hall, Jada called out for her cousin. “Kayla, are you awake?”

“In here,” her cousin responded from the kitchen.

“Great,” Jada turned back to Tristan. “Go to the room on the left and the bathroom will be through an adjoining door on the right.”

She shooed Tristan down the hall, then rushed into the kitchen. Mikayla shot her a raised eyebrow.

“Well, well, well. I—”

“Please don’t start, Mikayla. We overslept—and I can’t believe you didn’t wake us up, by the way. And now we’re in a rush. I offered up your bathroom for Tristan to shower. I’m going to take a quick one myself. Can you head to the set now and let them know we might be running a little behind?”

“Fine, fine. Rush a girl out of her own home.” Mikayla finished up her breakfast, headed for the door, then paused. “And I didn’t wake you up because you were both superadorable and comfy on that couch.”

After ushering Mikayla out, Jada rushed into her own room and stripped off her clothes in a rush. She was down to her bra and panties when she shoved open her bathroom door and walked in on a stark-naked Tristan. His eyes widened in surprise but he quickly recovered, lazily propping his elbow up against the towel rack with a cocky smirk.

“We’ve got to stop meeting like this.”

Despite having seen it all before, Jada moved to cover her eyes—then remembered that she was nearly naked and went to cover herself instead.

“Tristan, I said the room on the left!”

“Oh. I’ve never been good with directions.” His eyes unashamedly roved over her body, causing Jada to feel a different kind of heat rising through her.

“It’s okay. I’ll use the other bathroom.” Jada turned to leave but Tristan’s silky voice stopped her.

“You don’t have to rush off. It would be a much better idea for us to shower together. You know, to conserve water. And that way the water pressure won’t get thrown off.”

His tempting offer was like a siren’s song, forcing Jada to turn back around—just in time to see Tristan’s body had more in mind than eco-friendly bathing. If Jada stayed here any longer, she’d witness the full extent of Tristan’s attraction to her. This idea didn’t make her run away like it should. Instead, Jada’s own lust came to the surface. Before the telltale sign of her arousal could drench her panties, Jada mastered her senses through sheer willpower.

“Acoldshower is exactly what you need,” she squeaked.

Not allowing him to make another tantalizing proposition, Jada slammed the door.

Good God! She’d almost given in to Tristan . . . in her own bathroom, while she was late for work! She might detest Tristan’s torrid romantic past, but there was no denying how sexy he was. How tempting he was. The kind of hold he had over a woman’s body should be illegal.

Fanning herself, Jada snatched an outfit out of her closet and then ran into Mikayla’s room. Locking her cousin’s bathroom door behind her, she had to face facts: she was the one who needed a cold shower. Then again, the idea of finishing what Tristan had proposed was extremely tempting. Especially as she knew he was just a few rooms over, lathering his body the same way she was washing hers. Was he thinking about her too? Maybe even touching himself the way she wanted to? Against her better judgment, Jada let the fantasy sink in, just a little bit, imagining Tristan’s bare skin against hers. Her hands wandering down her curves. The thrilling sensations left her wondering how he’d caress her in the sweet downpour until the passion overtook them both.

Get a grip, Jada! She chided herself as she tried to refocus on the necessities. Scrub, rinse, repeat. She continued the process until she felt sane and composed instead of like a cat in heat. By the time she’d gathered herself and stepped out of Mikayla’s room, Tristan was freshly showered, dressed, and nibbling on fruit in her kitchen. She didn’t comment on the overly comfortable action as she was too busy trying not to picture his hands exploring her body.

That’s what you get for getting carried away. Damn. It was like a tiny disapproving nun had somehow gotten lodged in her subconscious!

“Are you ready to go?” she mumbled, refusing to make eye contact.

“Are you? Have you ever ridden on a motorcycle before?” he asked.

“You have an extra helmet, right?” Jada asked, feeling light headed.

“Yes, and I promise you’ll be safe with me.” His eyes were bright and kind.

God, how she wanted to believe him. This thought echoed through her mind as they zipped in and out of traffic in their mad race to get to Griffith Park on time. While she clutched him for dear life, Jada wanted to believe that he wouldn’t break her heart to bits. Or at the very least, that they could hook up and walk away relatively unscathed. But that didn’t seem to be the fate for most women after dealing with Tristan. Especially if Angela’s expression was anything to go by.

As the leading lady spotted Jada and Tristan walking on set together, a grimace of pain flashed across her face but was swiftly replaced with disdain. When Jada and Tristan had first reached the blocked off part of the street, they’d taken off their helmets so security would let them through. But even the worst case of helmet hair hadn’t made Tristan’s hair dry any faster. That, coupled with them arriving together, added up to one conclusion in the eyes of the prying crew, not to mention the bystanders gathered behind the barricades who were snapping pictures of them.

Griffith Park was enormous and constantly busy, so they’d only been able to secure a small part of it for their outdoor scenes. While some people were taking in the other aspects of the park’s vast hiking trails and pony rides, others had gathered to get a peek at their shoot. Along with the outside scenes scheduled for today, they’d also been lucky enough to score some time in the Griffith Observatory tomorrow. There, Lana would be struck with the inspiration that would help solve the case of the time traveling locket. But for now, they’d be focused on Diego and Claire meeting in the park, with Lana coming in later.
