Me: You just made my day. I’m so jacking off to this.

Crabby: Is painted nails going to be your thing next season?

Me: As long as my manicurist doesn’t quit on me.

December 30

Crabby: We miss you too baby.

Me: It’s not even midnight yet. This came early.

Kyle: I know but I’m extra blue so I need the moral support.

I was blue too.It was an hour before midnight, and for the first time in I don’t know how long, instead of overwhelmedand exhausted, I was lonely. Even with all the texting and phone calls, I missed Kyle, and so did the kids. Spring training, when he’d be gone for weeks, was going to suck. For all of us.

The kids had been asleep for a couple of hours. We’d celebrated New Year’s a little before eight, with Kyle joining in on FaceTime. After that, he was headed out, and I put the kids to bed at eight thirty. I’d be asleep now if Kyle hadn’t made me promise to FaceTime with him when the ball dropped. He’d still be out, I was sure, but knowing that he wanted to see me at midnight made the idea of him having fun without me sting less.

I hadRyan Seacrest’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eveon the TV, and I was just starting to doze when a knock startled me.

My heart raced as I straightened on the couch. Who the hell was here? Maybe Trevor? The girls were with him tonight, so maybe he needed help with them? I heaved myself up and shuffled to the door, straightening my pajamas as I went.

As I pulled the door open, my heart stuttered and my eyes popped wide open. “Kyle?”

“Happy New Year, Crabby.” He stepped inside and dropped his suitcase and bag on the floor. Then he wrapped me in a tight hug. With his lips on mine, he kicked the door shut with his foot and pressed me up against the wall. Leaning his entire body into mine as his tongue dominated my mouth.

When we were both breathless, he pulled back and rested his forehead against mine. “I couldn’t start the new year without you.”

“I’m really glad you’re here,” I mumbled against the rough skin of his jaw.

With both hands on my ass, he lifted me. Then he guided my legs around his hips. “Can we take this to your room so we can try out that black lace? I really want to ring in the new year with my dick inside you.”

I giggled as he carried me down the short hall. “You’ll have to be quiet, though.”

“Oh, Crabby.” He shook his head and grinned. “You’re the one who’s always moaning and yelling my name.”

“Shut up.” I whacked his shoulder.
