“Consider it already transferred to your name, brother,” I mocked. “Don’t deem me so foul, yes?”
His disapproving grunt caused me to snicker which earned me an elbow to the rib from my wife.
“Extra supplies will be provided.” With a wave of my uncle’s hand, a bulky man entered, holding a large black box. “Change and grab your weapons. I want this execution to be clean and smooth. No. Mess. Ups.”
“When we get to the nightclub, we will scatter. On my cue, shots will be fired to create a distraction as we deal with Angelo. I’ll be back in an hour. I expect everyone to be ready by then.”
With that, he took his leave.
Immediately, my crew went to work, strapping themselves in gear.
“Don’t tell me I can’t go.”
Turning to the beautiful woman in my arms, I watched her nibble on her bottom lip.
I pulled her chin down, freeing it from between her teeth. “I won’t be telling you anything.” Grabbing her jaw, I leaned in. “But you’re not leaving my side, understand? God knows you’ve never left my sight.”
“Sopossessive.”
“Among other things when it comes to you.”
She laughed for the first time in what seemed like forever, making my heart somersault in my chest.
Leaning into my touch, I kissed her forehead when the voices to our right rose.
We turned to watch Enzo and Sofia in a heated argument.
“You’re not going, and that’s final.”
“Then you can’t either,” Sofia argued. “You almostdiedthe last time you were near your father.”
“Youcannotbe there.” Enzo pulled at his hair, his face scrunched in affliction. “From the moment I’ve met you, you’ve lived in my head. I cannot focus on my task if I’m too busy thinking of your safety.”
As if his words had struck her, Sofia remained silent despite the evident displeasure slashed across her features.
It was intruding to listen in on them and while others were busy getting ready, Aurora and I had front row seats to their public conversation.
“Perhaps we should get ready instead of eavesdropping?”
“Huh?” Aurora asked distractedly, fixated on her brother and the redhead.
“Aurora.”
She gaped at me, her cheeks flushed. “Sorry. It’s just interesting to see my brother… like that.”
Interesting for her, odd for me.
It wasn’t a hard guess that Enzo loved that girl, but it was also evident she had something strange about her.
Though it was none of my business to interfere.
Pulling Aurora up by the waist, I walked us to the black box and reached inside.
I grinned, handing her the short blonde wig. “This might be more fun than I thought.”
