Chapter Five

Elora

"Hello there. Can I help you find something?"

I close my eyes and sigh. I was so immersed in the files that I didn't even hear him sneak up on me. I'm getting sloppy, and that is an awful way to get caught. I whirl around and see the Steel Kings’ president.

"We have company," I murmur into my lapel, letting Eliza know I am in need of a diversion.

“On it, " she replies, and the communication line goes dead.

I face the MC president. "Hi, I got lost and saw the door open here. I shouldn't be poking around. I'm sorry." I give him the sweetest smile I can, biting my lip and sticking my chest out just a little.

His eyes waver from my face, and he misses my triumphant look. "Nice try, sweetheart. You are the same woman from the bar. I imagine you are the same one who robbed me as well?" He raises an eyebrow and gives me a cocky grin.

Why isn't he angrier? He seems more intrigued than upset, and the way he is looking at me is causing a fire in my veins. It's hard to concentrate when it feels like my entire body is on fire. I just want to throw him to the ground and see what is under that leather and tight jeans.

Shaking my head, I frown at the guy. He could be involved in my parents’ murder, and I fantasize about stripping him naked and having my way with him. No, that isn't right.

I put my chin up and look down my nose at him. "You deserve to have things taken from you. Just like how you took a young girl's parents.” My lips tremble, and fury erupts inside of me at his look of confusion. Had this man taken out so many people that he couldn’t even remember what happened with my parents?

“We don’t hurt innocents, sweetheart, so I am not exactly sure what you are talking about," he says firmly. There is a part of me that wants to believe him, but I shove that down, along with my overwhelming attraction to him.

"Oh, really? Is there a biker gang that doesn't hurt innocents?” I smile sarcastically.

He spreads his hands. "We are what we are." The smirk gets me, and I launch myself at him.

My body hits the president, and I exhale as I feel his hard chest against my breasts. It is challenging to focus on my attack because of that, so it is already too late before I realize he’s sweeping my legs out from underneath me and knocking me to the floor.

He lands on top of me, and I can feel his body molded to me. He looks down into my face, and I can't tell if he is going to kiss me or scream at me.

"What are you after?" he says in my face.

Instead of being afraid, the sound vibrates through my body, making me shiver. Without an answer, I wrap my legs around his waist and buck my hips into his. The surprised look he gives me makes it possible to roll him over and break apart from him. I roll to a standing position and crouch down, ready to fight.

However, the man gets back on his feet just as quickly. "Do you need some foreplay first, sweetheart? I can give you all the foreplay you want,” he utters, smirking.

I growl as he comes towards me. He blocks my kick and comes in with a move designed to knock me down. I whirl out of the way, looking around the room for anything I can use as a weapon.

"You are good,” he manages to praise me. “Where did you learn to fight?"

"That is none of your business, handsome," I tell him, coming in close and trying to sweep his legs out. He catches one of my legs, though, pinning me to his chest.

We are inches apart, our breaths mingling together. If I lean just a little closer, I can put my lips on his. Shaking my head, I push him away and chuckle.

"What's wrong, sweetheart? Are you afraid of what being with a real man would be like?"

I glower at him and pretend to look around the room. “A real man? If only I knew where to find one of those. All I see is a coward who preys on families.”

His face shuts down; his eyes turn cold as he looks at me. A delicious thrill goes through me as o see violence in them. He stalks towards me like a lion to his prey. I step backward, but there is only so much space in the crowded office.Where the hell is my backup?

"Let's get one thing straight, sweetheart." He spits the endearment at me, and I know he is no longer playing. “You broke in my properties and stole from me. I have been nice up until now, but no one calls me a coward. I don't prey on children or families. I don't know what happened to your family or why you think the Steel Kings are connected to your parents’ deaths, but you are wrong."

He lunges at me fast as a snake, and I feel his hand graze down my arm as I dance out of the way. Just then, I hear the sounds of squealing tires outside, making me breathe easier. A red dot forms on his chest, and his gaze moves from it to my face before he rolls under the desk to keep from getting shot.

Catapulting myself up onto the desk, I give him a grin. "Until next time, handsome." Then, I am up and out of the window, running for the Camaro. Eliza greets me and screams out of the parking lot. I drive right behind her, and I look in the rearview mirror to see the MC president standing outside the armory, watching me.

We aren’t finished with each other yet. This is just the first battle in the war. I know that my parent's deaths are tied to Truth and Consequences, and I will get revenge on this biker gang, no matter how attracted I am to their leader.
