“Promise me, Hattie,” he said as he leaned up and captured my breast in his mouth, sucking and pulling at it nearly making me come.
“Yes, Nix I promise.”
“Good.”
My movements continued, and he began fucking me from below. He had one hand on my hip, holding me still so I wouldn’t fall as he pressed up into me, again and again. I was so close. Every time his cock bumped that sweet spot deep inside of me, I felt like I had seen stars. Then his fingers slipped between us and circled my clit, massaging it in rhythm with my movements andat that moment, all was lost. My head fell back, and I groaned, biting my lip to keep from screaming as my climax shook my body, exploding from my core to my fingertips and at the same time I felt Nix let go, coating my insides with his seed as he grunted and pumped up into me.
I fell forward, unable to hold myself up any longer, only to be caught by the one man who stole my heart at eight years old and then did it again and again until we tore each other apart.
“I’m so sorry.” I whispered as we caught our breath. “I’m sorry. I’m so fucked up that we could never make it work.”
Nix didn’t say anything, his arms just wrapped around me a little tighter as we laid there covered in sweat, surrounded by memories of our past that hurt so much it brought tears to my eyes.
Chapter Seven
Nix
It was the middle of the night when my phone started vibrating and it just wouldn’t stop. Hattie was tucked into my side and had stirred at the noise, so I reached for it only to have just missed a call from the shop. Looking back on the call log, I had missed six calls from them all in a row. Something must be wrong because they never call when I’m off. I carefully pulled myself from Hattie’s sleeping form and pulled on some shorts before stepping out into the hallway. It was probably a mistake making her stay with me, but I wasn’t ready to let her go yet. As ridiculous as it sounded, this little bubble we had created at my parents’ house over Christmas weekend had made me happier than I’d been in a really long time. I peaked back in my room at her asleep under the covers and smiled to myself as I closed the door behind me.
My phone rang again, and this time I got it.
“Nix, what the fuck, man? I’ve been calling you for an hour.”
“Sorry I was asleep.”
“At eleven o’clock?”
“Yeah, Phoenix, it’s Christmas, or didn’t you realize?”
“I know, and listen, I just… I need help with something.”
“Why are you at the shop? I thought Ares closed it for the weekend.”
“He did, but I told a client I’d take care of him and then other people started walking in, so I just stayed open. Now there is a line out the door.”
“At 11:00 on Christmas night?”
“You know how this place is. How soon can you get here?”
“Phoenix, honey, I can't. I'm on the other side of the state right now.”
“But what am I supposed to do?”
“Figure it out... or just close. It’s not like anyone had appointments, did they?”
“You’ll be back tomorrow, right?”
“Actually, I’m staying until Tuesday.”
“What? You have clients tomorrow.”
“I know. I texted most of them already and rescheduled.”
“Fuck this.”
“Phoenix, babe, wait—“
The phone went dead. Serves her right, really. She knows better than to randomly open the shop. That place was a beast and without someone there to handle the door, it made sense she got swamped. I turned to head back to bed and my heart dropped. Standing in the doorway to my bedroom was Hattie. She had a blanket wrapped around her and tears in her eyes. I looked at the phone in my hand, then back up at her, but she looked away and stepped around me in the hallway.
