Ben was calling, likely under the guise of confirming their dinner date that evening but mostly to glean all the juicy details about the night before. Sabina was not known for her discretion.

"Good morning, gorgeous."

“Don’t you sound chipper and sexually satisfied this morning.”

Lilly snorted. Subtlety wasn't one of Ben's strengths. "Are you digging?"

"Me? Never. I’m shocked that you would even think such a thing.”

“Uh-huh.”

“I’m simply verifying that you are still attending the medical dinner this evening."

"Of course, I have my dress picked out and everything. Where is this fancy schmancy dinner?”

"The Chiltern Firehouse. I've never eaten there, but it's supposed to be divine. The best part is the surgeons are footing the bill, so you and I can eat like pigs and drink like fish."

Lilly giggled. "A regular farmhouse romp. Sounds like a dazzling and smart plan, sir."

"I'll pick you up around six? The reservation is for six-thirty."

"Great. Will Sabina be there?”

"No darling, it's only for us terribly important people," Ben replied with a faux haughty air. "She couldn't get a sitter until after eight, so she's meeting us at the pub once we're done. That’s if you're not too tired from gallivanting with a certain fair-haired God last night."

“And there it is. I give you credit. You made it two minutes without asking.”

Ben chortled. “A new world record. I’ve wanted to call you since six this morning, but I figured I might interrupt you swinging from the chandeliers.”

“Sadly, no chandelier swinging…at least not today. Maybe tonight…I might have to leave the dinner early if I develop a sudden headache.”

“And Jacob Edmonton holds the only cure. Am I right?”

“Dead on.”

“Is he wonderful?”

Lilly couldn’t hold back the smile that crossed her face. “He’s so far beyond wonderful, Ben. The way he makes me feel, the way he looks at me, the way he touches me—”

“Enough! Christ, you’re making me green with envy. So basically, he’s perfect.”

“More than perfect.” Lilly shocked herself, oozing happiness like a waterfall.

"Wow, sounds like someone's in love."

Lilly searched for an appropriate response, but her silence was more than enough answer for her close friend.

"Good for you, Lilly. I hope he realizes what an amazing woman you are."

"He wants to take me to Paris.”

"Sounds like Jacob’s in love too. You'll have to fill me in on all the details this evening, luv."

"All the details?"

Ben scoffed. "Obviously. Don't you dare leave anything out, particularly about that man's anatomy."

“You mean his chiseled, delectable anatomy?”
