Chapter Twelve

Jacob

Jacob watched Lilly's eyes brighten with emotion, felt her pulse quicken and damn near spilled his guts and heart right there. He was overcome with feelings, and he knew it wasn't just the afterglow from his orgasm. Although, fucking hell, Lilly had the most talented tongue he'd ever encountered.

He was falling in love with her, and he wasn't even sure when it happened, everything moved so quickly. He looked at her, lounging on the couch, a sated expression on her face. The woman unhinged him at every level, and it felt amazing.

But then the thought crept back into his brain, the idea that kept him on a one-way track throughout his adult life. Don't forget what's important. Don't let a beautiful woman throw your life off kilter.

He shook away the thought, content to enjoy the moment. He told himself he would come back to rights soon enough. The glitter would fade, and he would bore of Lilly, like every other woman in his past.

What a load of bullshit. You aren't going to bore of her, she's become your favorite addiction. One you never want to recover from.

Her body was incredible, and Jacob yearned to lay her back and bury himself inside her until she screamed his name. Yet he hesitated because deep down, he knew the truth. Once he made love to Lilly, there would be no coming back—his heart and soul would be lost forever to this petite beauty.

Sliding his hands under her hips, he hoisted her into his arms.

"Where are we going?" Lilly inquired, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"Let's go get comfortable. How do you feel about a shower and a movie? The caveat is you have to let me snuggle you the entire film."

Her laugh washed over him. "Sounds wonderful."

Jacob carried her to the bathroom, walking them under the warm spray of the showerhead.

He massaged every inch of her body, willing his erection down as his hands slid between her legs. Her moans weren't helping matters.

"You have the most spectacular body," Jacob murmured, pressing open-mouthed kisses to Lilly's back.

"Oh please," Lilly guffawed. "I've seen the women you've dated. I'm not even in the same sport, much less the same league."

His hands slid up her abdomen, cupping her breasts. Christ, the woman had amazing tits—and they were real. He'd almost forgotten the feel of natural breasts. "You're right."

She stiffened, and he smiled against her neck, gently squeezing her nipples. "You're far superior to any of them."

Lilly turned in his arms, standing on tiptoe and offering him a chaste kiss. "You'd better be careful."

Jacob's brows knitted. "Why?"

"If you're not, I'll fall head over heels in love with you, and then where will we be?"

Jacob's world stopped when he heard her words. Her smirk indicated she was joking, but something in her eyes told him she meant every word. He took a deep, fortifying breath when he realized the idea of her not falling for him was far worse than her becoming utterly besotted.

His biggest fear realized—what if she didn't love him back?

Jacob offered a well-practiced smile, wrapping his arms around her ass and giving those luscious cheeks a squeeze. "A fate worse than death, huh? Falling in love with me?"

Lilly's joking smirk faded as she gazed at him. It was as if she could read the fear beneath his polished facade. "No, falling in love alone. Falling in love with you would be exquisitely easy."

His heart raced as his brain sought the right response. Instead he opted to back her against the shower stall and kiss the living daylights out of her. His hand held her chin as his tongue traced the contours of her mouth. The kiss was wild with reckless abandon, a sentiment Jacob had become well-acquainted with since meeting Lilly.

"Am I still tempting?" Lilly teased, her fingers tracing along the lines of his shoulders.

"Even more so since I've had a taste of you. And the day I make love to you, I'll be completely lost."

"Don't worry, I'll find you," she whispered, and Jacob damn near took her right there, burying himself inside her and caving to these overwhelming emotions.

"You hold a power over me unlike anyone before."
