Silence lulled my thoughts. It wasn’t until he washed down the third shot that I began again.

“Her name.”

“Rugger. And, she’s lethal.”

“She is.”

“I avoid eye contact with her ass. Feels like she’s staring into my soul, wondering when she’ll acquire that motherfucker.”

“So, it’s not just me.”

“Nah. Nah.”

“Them. You mentioned them.”

“There are seven of them. How he’s kept them on a leash this long is mind-boggling.”

“What brought them to the forefront? He has people running his entire operation.”

“That’s the thing, nigga,” he paused, “They are the people.”

“His sisters?”

“His sisters. She hunts.”

“She hunts,” I repeated, letting it all sink in.

“They’ve been laying low since everything went down. Why risk– I don’t understand.”

“She’s hunting.”

“Eric?”

“Everyone who had anything to do with her family’s demise.”

“That nigga is still in business. There wasn’t a demise.”

“The government doesn’t know that. And, they bruised their ego. They have chips on their shoulders. They won’t let it go. Can’t let it go. Not until a lesson has been taught.”

“How did she know about Eric?”

“She’s on the network now. I didn’t give her access, but someone in my family has, it seems. I’ll look more into it.”

“There’s no need.”

I grabbed the final shot and tossed it back. When I stood on my feet, I didn’t stop moving until I was inside my car.

Rugger.

I finally had a name.

Rugger Childers.

TWO

The blades of the ceiling fan whipped in a circle. The slight chill it provided was hardly enough to settle the heat between my legs.

“Wake the fuck up, Blade. We’re not here to see you mope around about the lack of blood you’re seeing. I’m on my period right now. I got some blood for your ass if you’re that pressed,” Roulette complained, pushing me on her way toward Rather’s bed.
