Thankfully, we get back to the truck without incident, and we all keep our balaclavas on as we head back to the house that we have rented, just in case we are being watched.
“I need everyone to keep their eyes peeled and make sure that we aren’t being followed,” I say as we head down the road and back into town.
“On it,” Cash replies. “So far, I haven’t seen anything suspicious.”
“Are we thinking that it is likely that we are going to be followed?” Jensen asks curiously.
I shrug, “Honestly, I’m not sure. He was very interested in meeting us. I think he wanted to be able to put a face to the people that not only found his shit but also found the person responsible for stealing his shit.”
“He also probably wanted to meet us because all we asked for was someone innocent to be saved. If anyone else was in our position, with the leverage that we had, they definitely would have taken advantage of the situation and got as much out of it as they possibly could,” Luc points out.
“I hadn’t thought of that,” I admit.
“What’s the plan now?” Riot asks through a yawn.
“We go back to the house and get some sleep,” I reply. “We have to get the kid and his mom out of the city as soon as possible, but we can do that tomorrow.”
“We only need a couple of hours of sleep,” Rafe signs.
“You’re right; it’s only just gone past two in the morning,” Riot agrees. “We can go back, get a few hours sleep, and get up early and put the rest of the plan in motion.”
“Where is everyone at with their parts of the plan?” I ask.
“I have set everything up,” Jensen replies, “I expediated the process, so the bank card for the account should arrive at the house that we are staying in tomorrow. As soon as we have that,we can put it in the envelope with the details and Cash’s lawyer letter.”
“We know where they live thanks to the kid leaving last night, if we have the last name for them then it will be easy enough to put the letter in their mailbox,” Luc adds.
“Shit,” I curse, “Can someone check my phone and see if Luke got back to us?”
“Sure,” Luc replies as he picks it up and starts pressing buttons, “I ended up having to give him a bit of information like we said. As soon as he realized why we were asking he said he would get us as much information as he could.”
Luke is really good at finding information, so now that he knows that it’s for a good reason, hopefully, he will put maximum effort into finding the names for us.
“Well?” Jensen asks, as patient as always. Not.
“Hang on,” Luc replies. “Found it. Yeah, Luke has come through for us. He has found both of their names and their last name as well.”
“Thank fuck for that,” Cash says, sounding relieved, “it’s going to make it a lot more believable if I can include her first name as well.”
“What are they?” Rafe signs, looking curious.
“Rebecca and Fredric Moss,” Luc replies.
Rafe smiles, “I like it. Riot and I found a town, smaller than even ours is, and with an incredibly low crime rate. It has a few nice houses for sale, a couple with a bit of land which they might appreciate after living in a tiny apartment in the city.”
“Great, well done guys,” I reply. “We’ll get some sleep, then in the morning, we can finish up the letter and then go and deliver it.”
“I’ll keep an eye on the accounts,” Jensen replies.
“And I will put a time constraint in the letter, which means that they have to leave immediately to get the money released,” Cash suggests.
“Okay, if you are going to do that, then we need to put some cash in the envelope so they have something to help them get started,” Jensen points out.
“Maybe we should also buy plane tickets to the new town and put those in as well?” Luc suggests, “They are going to find it quite hard to get plane tickets with cash.”
“Okay,” I say, “we aren’t too far away from the house now. Cash, do you remember if the house had a printer?”
Cash nods, “Yeah, I think it did. If not, we can go to the library or something first thing and get them printed off. I will buy them now,” he looks at Rafe and Riot and asks, “what is the name of the town?”
