He doesn’t seem to acknowledge Trick’s words at all but then his face is so swollen that he could be glaring at us and now the swelling has gotten worse we can’t tell. I don’t really care either way if I’m honest.
Trick glances at us all with triumphant in his eyes and I am assuming that it is because he has found the number in the phone.
Trick
“Do you have my money?” is the first thing that Jimmy says, and I grin.
“I have more than just your money,” I reply.
There is a beat of silence, and then he replies, “You aren’t that weasel.”
“No, I’m not,” I reply and then launch straight into telling him what the situation is. The last thing I want is to end up starting this phone call on the wrong foot, “we have the weasel, as you called him; he has been stealing your drugs and your money. I am willing to give you the location of all three.”
Jimmy’s voice is full of anger as he replies, but fortunately it’s not anger at us, “I’m listening, what do you want?”
“You can’t do this!” our target yells in the background before I can answer Jimmy.
“There you go, proof that we have him, although you didn’t ask for it,” I say.
“Fuck,” the guy curses again.
“He’s not very bright this one is he,” I add.
Jimmy actually chuckles, “No, he is not. Now, what would you like in exchange for this information?”
Chapter Nineteen
Trick
“It’s quite simple, really,” I start, “as I said before, I will give you the location of the stolen drugs, the money, and the fucker that took them. In exchange, I would like the original bargain that he made to strike off his debt to be taken off the table, and I would like a firm word from you that it will remain that way.”
Jimmy hums, but I have no idea how this is going to go. I don’t know if he is going to insist on the original deal even though, it hasn’t gone through yet, or if he is going to be somewhat decent and agree to it. Sometimes, these kinds of people get all prideful and hung up on the wrong fucking things, and if he is one of these, then he is going to want things held to the original agreement on principle or some bullshit.
Finally, he replies, “If you can send me proof that you have all three at this location, then I can agree to that. I wasn’t particularly keen on that deal anyway.”
“Fair enough. One second, and I will send you over some photographic proof,” I reply.
“I will wait on the line,” Jimmy replies.
I don’t bother replying as I take photographs of the money and the drugs, making sure that I don’t get any identifying features in the background. We don’t want them to realize where we are, although that is a very unlikely scenario since it is dark outside, and unless someone has been here before, I doubt that they would recognize where we are. We are in the middle of nowhere. However, I would rather be safe than sorry. Before I take a photo of our target, I gesture for the guys to move out of the way, which they do, and then quickly move back once it has been taken so that they can make sure that he doesn’t try anything.
“You should receive them any moment now,” I say into the phone.
Anger is prominent in his voice, “I have them. That is definitely my money and my drugs.” He then chuckles, “That is also my thief. I see that he wasn’t very cooperative.”
“No, he wasn’t,” I reply. “Do we have a deal?”
“Yes, we have a deal.”
“The original repayment for his debt is considered null and void?” I ask. I am being careful not to mention specifics just in case the target didn’t give him any specifics, and as Jimmy hasn’t said outright anything about the kid or the mom, I’m not going to either.
“Yes, it is,” Jimmy replies.
“Great, I will text you the location,” I reply.
“I’m going to assume that you will be long gone by the time that we get there?” Jimmy asks.
“You assume correctly. But we will make sure that he cannot escape.” I reply.
