Epilogue

Anna stood next toZar with a smile pinned on her face. “Are you sure this is a good idea?”

“It’s too late to back out now, Your Highness,” he said as he lifted a hand to wave at the people lining the road, yelling their congratulations. “You signed the marriage certificate.”

She rolled her eyes, and he laughed at her.

Anna waved at the crowd and leaned close to whisper in Zar’s ear, “Did you see Brigette and Nicolas’s faces when they took their turn signing the marriage certificates?”

“Hard to miss. She looked like she was about to kill someone. He looked like he wanted to die by her hand.” Zar shook his head. “Those two are so obviously in love with each other, but they seem oblivious of the other’s feelings.”

“I understand why your sister is gun shy, but what’s holding Nicolas back?”

“He’s been protecting us for a long time.”

“Something tells me our example is going to give Nicolas ideas for how to do just that. I’m more concerned about Brigette. She still has open wounds.”

“They both deserve to be happy.”

“I agree,” he said with an impish grin. “Shall we do our best to help them?” His eyes sparkled with mischief.

“You have a plan, don’t you?”

“A small one. They need an opportunity to spend time with each other and create trust before anything else can happen. I know of just the right opportunity.”

“Devious man.” She kissed his jaw.

“I caught you, didn’t I?”

“I think I need to add some info to the official guidebook to Lerasia.”

“Oh?”

She leaned forward to kiss him, but paused right before their lips touched to whisper, “Beware of undercover princes.”
