“No, Your Majesty,” Anna said.

“Not physically,” Zar said with a slight emphasis on the last word.

Anna gave him a dirty look.

He seemed unconcerned. “The ring,” he whispered to her out of the corner of his mouth.

“Oh.” Anna pulled the ring that her grandmother had hidden all those years ago out of her pocket and offered it to the queen. “I thought my grandmother had been embellishing her love story with my grandfather when she told me about this ring and where she hid it.”

The queen accepted the ring and studied the huge diamond in the middle of the setting. “We thought this lost to time and old enemies.”

“Not lost,” Anna said. “Only waiting for the right time to return. I’m glad I could bring it back to you.”
