One of the women flushed as they saw him looking over at them.
“Or maybe they’re just admiring you,” she said, wondering if she’d gotten it all wrong.
Was she acting paranoid?
“Nah, that’s not it,” he said, blushing slightly.
“Oh yeah. I think it is. They’re wondering how I got so lucky.”
He shook his head.
“You’ve got that whole sexy Clark Kent meets GI Joe thing going on.”
“Jesus,” he muttered. “I do not.”
“Yep, a total hero. Gorgeous, sexy, and kind. You’re the whole package, Corbin McIntyre.”
“You really think so?”
She stared up at him, her gaze intense as she took him in. “I don’t know how I got lucky enough to catch your interest.”
“You’ve done more than catch my interest.” He touched his finger to the side of her chin, keeping her face turned toward him. “You’ve got all of me, Bebe.”
“You promise?”she whispered, vulnerability filling her face.
“Hey, I promise. This isn’t just a whim for me. I’m not messing around. I want you. All of you. I’m here to stay. I’m not going anywhere.”
Relief filled her face, and while he knew she would still have doubts, he thought he was starting to get through to her.
“I’m still not sure about going to Sanctuary Ranch. Are you sure it’s all right with the owners? I mean . . . why would your boss want me there? I could put everyone in danger.” She rubbed her hands up and down her arms.
“Sanctuary Ranch was set up a long time ago to be a safe place for people who want relationships that aren’t always considered normal. At Sanctuary you’ll find lots of Littles and Daddies. Some of the people who live there are also in ménage relationships, others are Doms and subs.”
“Other Littles live there?” she asked.
“Yes. And like I told you, we have the best security you can get. The stalker will first have to find out where you’ve gone and then find a way to get to you on the Ranch. Then he’ll have to get past a bunch of ex-military as well as me. And that is not happening.”
She smiled up at him, but she still looked unsure.
“What will they think of the fact that you’re with me?” she asked.
“Well, they might think I was a bit unprofessional, but Bain fell for Ari while he was protecting her. So it’s happened before. It’s that whole bodyguard-client thing.” He winked at her.
“No, it’s just a you-thing. You’re too difficult to resist,” she told him.
“Why, thank you.”
“Plus, you’re persistent and stubborn and like to get your way.”
“Hey!”
She grinned at him. Then her face sobered. “But I meant about me? What will they think about you being with me?”
“They will think I’m a fucking lucky bastard,” he told her. “That’s what they’ll think.”
“What’s wrong?” Hayes barked as he sat next to them, his plate nearly overflowing with food.
“Did you leave any food for anyone else?” she asked him.
