Unknown Number:I’m staying near Whitehall tonight and was wondering if you’d like to meet for breakfast in the morning. An apology for Frank ruining your lunch.
I had to read the message three times to make sure I’d gotten it right.
William Harris, billionaire and CEO, wanted to take me to breakfast?
It’s a date.
I pushed that thought away. Billionaires didn’t date curvy girls.
But then again, free food was good food.
I glanced over my shoulder at my brothers, who were talking, and sent a quick text to Victoria.
Brooke:William just asked me to breakfast.
Victoria answered immediately.
Victoria:Free food is good food!
I laughed.
Brooke:I was thinking the same thing!
Victoria:He probably feels bad that Frank accosted you. Let him buy you breakfast. He’s a nice guy once you get past the stiff exterior.
I wasn’t sure there was a way past the stiff exterior, but Victoria had taken a liking to the guy, so he couldn’t be all bad.
Victoria:Is there a place you like to go but don’t like to pay for?
There was.
Victoria:If so, have him take you there.
“Brooke!” my dad hollered from the front door.
I glanced over my shoulder and found that everyone else had gone inside.
I sent Victoria a thumbs up, then answered William.
Brooke:Good to hear from you. I accept your offer of breakfast. Mama’s Diner in Whitehill. What time?
He answered before I got to the top of the stairs.
Unknown Number:Is 6am too early?
A morning person. That was something that we had in common.
Brooke:Nope. See you there.
I walked into my dad’s house and found Dad and Kathline sitting on the love seat opposite the huge TV on the wall that showed Danny’s face. He waved as I came in, and I waved at the computer on the coffee table.
Danny, Rick’s twin, was a trainer for a professional football team in Kansas City. He often had a weird schedule that kept him from hanging out with us, on the internet or otherwise. Todd always took personal offense to Danny’s sporadic attendance at our family gatherings.
I thought Todd needed to chill out.
Mindy had the boys sequestered to one couch, so I moved to the other one. Rick tried to take the end so I had to sit in the middle, but I shot him a killer glare, and he moved over.
Curvy girls did not have to sit in the middle.
