“She wants to see that butt wiggling move again later,” Greta said.
“Thank you so much,” I said in a flat voice.
“You’re welcome.” Greta beamed.
Logan grinned, gave my hand a squeeze, then walked back to our table.
I led Greta into our line and closed my eyes for a second. Courtney wasn’t my problem. After tomorrow, I’d likely never see her again. Neither would Logan.
“So, Sis, how’s it going with Logan?” Hannah asked as she moved into the spot beside me.
Frankly, I was surprised that she hadn’t asked me before now. “As good as you think it is.”
Hannah grinned. “Awesome.”
“Yup.” It was awesome.
Our music started, and Natalie let out a yeehaw that Brooke would have been proud of. That brought a smile back to my lips, and I took the first step.
Chapter 24
-Logan-
I watched as Victoria led Greta away.
That same expression of worry or anger had been on her face when I’d approached, and Greta had looked irritated as well. Considering Courtney was within ten feet of them I didn’t have to imagine what the problem was.
What was Courtney’s play? I had a sister almost exactly like her—which, honestly, should have been a huge red flag to me when we’d been dating—so I knew she was up to something.
I settled in my seat, and William took the spot Greta had occupied.
“Did I sense some tension between the women?” William asked.
“You did.”
He sighed. I’d used that same exhale in that same tone enough times to know that he was frustrated with Courtney.
“I’m sorry if she’s causing trouble,” William said.
I laughed. “Dude, I have a sister just like her. No need to apologize.”
William frowned in confusion. “You do?”
“Yup.” I took a small drink of water and turned my eyes to the women on the dance floor as I continued to speak to William. “Crystal’s day isn’t complete until she’s made someone else miserable. She’s perfectly adorable when she wants to be, but it doesn’t take long to see behind that mask.”
“Sounds familiar,” William muttered. “She’s different when it’s just the two of us.”
“Crystal isn’t.” She was mean no matter what.
I watched as Victoria and Greta adjusted their spacing and laughed about something. Courtney had lined up on the far side of the group.
Country music blasted from the speakers, and Natalie—who had donned a straw cowboy hat—let out a loud yeehaw. The next beat, the women began their dance.
Victoria might not be the skinniest woman in the room, which was fine by me, but she could move.
My eyes were drawn to Kyle who watched in rapture as the group did a coordinated line dance. His attention never left Natalie, and I had to resist letting out a long sigh. I wanted that. I wanted that for Victoria and me.
“Greta looks positively giddy,” William said.
