“You need a goal and a plan,” Rachel said.
“Probably,” I muttered.
Logan:Hello?
“Hold on a sec,” I told the girls.
Victoria:Sorry, distracted. That’s great!
“You’ve spent most of your time together flirting, right?” Nanette asked.
“Yeah.”
“Then you should probably try going deeper.”
Logan:I’m going to miss the wedding stuff on Thursday, but I’ll be there bright and early Friday morning.
I licked my lips. “Deeper is hard for me.” I was the problem, not him. When I fell for a guy, I tended to go overboard trying to impress them. My normally repressed OCD kicked in with a vengeance. It had ruined more than one relationship. This is why I’d spent the last five years hanging out with guys and not dating them.
“You can mitigate that, right?” Brooke asked.
I’d told the Crew the basics of my issues, but not everything. “I’m not sure.”
Logan:Is that okay?
Was it okay that he was going to take time away from his new business to be my date at a wedding I was dreading? It was more than okay, except for the fact that it was giving me hope. I typed the expected answer.
Victoria:Of course.
“You never know what will happen unless you try,” Rachel said.
“I know.” I let out a resigned sigh.
Brooke pointed at me. “What’s your plan?”
Run and hide?
No. I was a strong, confident woman who could handle a little relationship stuff. I squared my shoulders and said, “I’m going to spend the weekend with Logan going beyond flirting and into deeper territory.”
“And?” Rachel asked.
“And then we’ll see if he feels the same way about me as I do about him.”
“Good girl,” Nanette said.
I sent Logan one last text.
Victoria:I’m looking forward to it!
He answered immediately.
Logan:Me too.
Chapter 6
-Logan-
I stared out the window of my rideshare and barely saw the San Francisco skyline or the bridge that took me into Oakland. My mind was warring between how I was going to implement the firehose of ideas I’d ingested at the hospitality show and seeing Victoria again.
