“Domino tried to kill Eva. Also tried to kill everyone in this room at that same instance,” he reveals rather calmly. “To simply put it, that man has no morals and will do anything to secure whatever power he has left.”

“Which is what exactly?” Aries speaks up. “Last time I checked, he’s been spending Benedict’s money, using Mr. Leighton’s assets, cars, and services to get shit done, and using favors to aid his ploy to try to finish us. You take that all away, what does he have left that gives him allies?”

Truthfully, he has a point, and I can’t figure out why he’s still being aided when he has nothing to offer.

“When an animal is desperate to survive, it’ll do anything to keep living. Even if it’s for a few short seconds,” Mr. Prescott speaks up. “Let him squander and use every resource he thinks he has. It’s only a matter of time before news spreads and many realize he’s no longer inheriting the Empire he enjoys benefiting from.”

It’s a solidified plan.

“You’re giving up your Empire now?” Zander directs the question to Mr. Leighton. I swear this is the most he’s talked about when it comes to individuals outside of our circle. “I know you’re old as fuck, but still.”

Mr. Leighton glares at him. “I’m not old.”

“The fact you’re threatened by that proves it nags your mind every day,” Zander concludes. “Doesn’t answer my question.”

“Why are you intrigued enough to act like we’re on the same level?” Mr. Leighton tosses back.

“You want me answering that here?” Zander hums with a smirk.

When there’s a moment of silence, Zander shrugs.

“I want vengeance,” he states as though he’s not asking anyone’s permission to go for what he desires, but more so, giving the opportunity for anyone to have the balls to stop him. “You all know what lengths I’ll go to get it.”

Matteo sighs and puts the contract papers down on the coffee table in front of him.

“You can’t get rid of Domino yet,” he affirms. That’s surely directed to Zander specifically. “He’s a pawn that we need on the board right now.”

“Because?” I decided to step in. “As of now, he’s a squandering menace who’s desperate to bring us down with him. Why would we want that betraying fucker near us? Or trying to steal our roles as Kings now that he’s lost it.”

Matteo pulls out his phone, and with a few clicks, he’s presenting a picture with at least ten people’s faces on it.

“I need everyone but one person here,” he pauses to point to the individual’s photo. “Dead.”

“And what’s stopping you?” Aries asks.

“Multiple things, sadly,” Matteo admits. “But what’s intriguing is how all ten of these individuals are scheduled to either transfer to Leighton Royal University from Ásvaldr Prescott University or are temporarily attending due to the hockey team.”

That rewards Mr. Prescott our attention, leaving him to cross his arms and sigh.

“Yes, it’s suspicious, but the hockey team and those associated with their rise have been requested to transfer thanks to Deviant Lords and Savage Heirs. Again, you’ve yet to meet them or their chosen Maidens because we had to officially the set of Ruthless Kings. You’ll meet them when school starts up again.”

“So it’s not a coincidence the group of nine mates Matteo needs dead is entering our royal school grounds?” Zander says with pure sarcasm. “Marvelous! Which one do I get to kill first?”

“Zander,” I groan and give him a look.

“What? They need to be dead. Kill one per week, and we’ll be done well into the new year! I can even be courteous with the two weeks holiday break, which reminds me,” he begins and looks to Matteo. “We’re homeless.”

I don’t know why that just dawned on us, but Zander is exactly right.

We’re fucking homeless.

The mansion was burned down after we took the essentials and evacuated the staff. Watching it begin to burn held a bit of heartache, but after witnessing what Domino did and the extenthe was willing to go to get rid of all of us, I no longer had a pinch of sympathy.

“Right,” Mr. Leighton speaks up. “Due to your solidification as Ruthless Kings, your estate upon Leighton’s private acres is already secured. Once the contracts are signed, any of your belongings you wish to transfer to your new location can be done so promptly.”

He looks at the woman who has been quietly observing from the sidelines. She’s been so quiet since her panicked beginning, I’d forgotten her existence.

“This is Ann, the house manager. As you can tell, she is usually in our conversation as a timekeeper. She will be working with your group first?—”
