What Domino could have been?
“I never said you were,” he answers. “Precautions are only necessary when contracts haven’t been signed. Last time I checked, I’m doing you all a favor by administering the best services for your group and offering you the freedom to my assets, resources…” He pauses as he looks at the glass in my hand. “And alcohol collection.”
“Was that a collector edition?” I hum and proceed to shrug. “It was open. I assumed it wouldn’t be missed if I finished it.”
“I know you’re still pissed about one of your banks being emptied out,” he acknowledges. “A bit of aged Cognac will aid with the nagging need to go on a hunting spree.”
“Emptied?” Arlo frowns as he looks my way.
I’m pissed that he’s talking far too much tonight. I liked it when he was silent.
I don’t want to talk about it.
This Bunny Fucker knows that.
“Your King of Carnage took great pride in emptying one of his fellow King’s accounts,” he reveals. He sounds far too amused. “Of course, pulling all the stops to try to kill you all on the ice rink was risky when you’re going to try to steal 100 million from your ‘friend’s’ account. I’m even more amused because your bank allowed the withdrawal because no one questions Benedict’s actions.”
He laughs hearty, deep, yet quiet.
At least he’s taking Dolcezza into consideration.
“The fear you’ve instilled in our society is rather admirable,” he praises as he looks my way. “To be feared is a power very few can harness so effortlessly. I’ll give you that much.”
“If I was so feared, your brother wouldn’t try to steal my money, my assets, and kill my woman,” I grumble and chug the rest of my drink.
It takes everything to lower it not so quietly onto the table next to me.
He notices with intrigue before his eyes drift over to Gemini.
“You love her.”
Great. Another weakness known to this preying enemy.
“Tell me something I don’t fucking know,” I grunt.
“That the Prescotts have stopped a bank truck from reaching the borders with one hundred million in their possession.”
I’m ready to argue with whatever he’s going to throw in my face, but this new information strikes me with complete surprise.
What?
“Say that again.” He needs to repeat it so my brain can comprehend what was declared.
“The bank truck associated with your Ruthless King’s attempt to steal your valuable money was intercepted at the border by Prescotts. Ordered by the highest in command,” he reveals. “I’m sure it will ease your troubled mind that your hard-earned dollars are on their way back to your bank account via wire transfer, and the millions in the truck will be claimed by Prescotts and returned to their magnitude of investments,” he reveals and is looking at the sheets. “Precious Gem is cunning, isn’t she?”
She initiated that.
How? When? She was unconscious for so long.
“Why don’t we take this outside, hmm?”
I watch him turn around, and I don’t hesitate to look over to Arlo.
“I’ll keep watch,” he confirms and takes a seat next to the bed.
Good.
“Get a peak, and you’re a dead man.” I sound like an overprotective bastard with my “request.”More like a demand.Arlo dares to smirk, which he hides very quickly for his own survival.
