“It wasn’t me,” I confess, leaving Theo to gasp.

“Someone’s more sinister than you? Who the fuck pulled that off? Your Maiden?”

When I don’t reply, he whistles low before his voice drops.

“I hope you have her in your clutches.”

“I don’t,” I snarl. “It didn’t register in my fucking brain. I didn’t put it all together until I saw her face. She did it perfectly. She’s never shown any signs of having a switch!”

“Well, certainly not, or you would have caught that personality switch long before she plotted the perfect humiliation plot in royal history. Shit, everyone is going to be obsessed with her. Heck, I want her.”

“Theo.” My voice is borderline deadly, and he chuckles nervously.

“Alright, alright. I’ll just obsess with her in the background,” he suggests, but I hear the swift typing on the keyboard. “Which one would be smarter to look for? Psycho King or your Sinister Maiden?”

I think about it.

“Zayn,” I choose because I’m unsure if Hannah tampered with Eva’s tracker.

“That’s the one he’s had since becoming a Ruthless King, yes?” Theo inquires and he’s typing extremely fast. I’m good at hacking, and I’m positive Zander is as well, but Theo is dangerously flawless in his execution of anything.

That’s why I need him.

“Yes,” I press and see Ares in the distance.

“Have you found them?” he asks as Marcus continues helping me as we run in unison.

“No,” I pant, hissing when I move my right side the wrong way. “Fuck.”

“You’re going to permanently fuck yourself up if you don’t get seen,” Ares stresses with concern, but I can see the panic in his eyes. “Do you want me to ask Aries?”

That makes Theo laugh on the other end.

“That won’t work at all,” Theo confesses.

“Why is that?” I pant and put him on speaker so Marcus and Ares can hear him.

“Well, you see, since you sold him over to Domino for protection, Domino decided to put him to good use.”

I don’t like the sound of that.

“Theo… what have you orchestrated?”

“You should be asking your Maiden that. I’m pretty positive every set of royals is going to try to claim her before you guys get to ascend to your next title because that move was the cherry on top. The only Ruthless Queen to ever do anything close is the original,” he reveals and laughs. “Those genetics are strong, huh?”

“Shit,” Marcus curses.

“Wait,” Ares presses as realization forms in his mind. “She said she can’t be switched. We have to be her Kings, no matter what,” he reminds us from the beginning.

He’s right.

“That ain’t stopping them,” Theo laughs. “Plus, you owe Joaquin a favor, remember?”

Fuck…

“Theo,” my voice is stern as hell.

“If you’re going to ask me a favor, I’m already pulling one out of my ass to…” He suddenly trails off, and his silence forces the three of us to exchange a look.
