Then again, Matteo did say he was gifted the car for aesthetic reasons.

Being “gifted” a Cybertruck proves the importance one’s influence has on society’s priorities,

“Didn’t leave any other instructions aside from the destination coordinates, huh?” Ares inquires as he looks to Matteo. “I feel as though they would have been more detailed with their expectation of us Kings.”

“I just think they were too busy or lazy to care,” Matteo mutters. “As for leaving anything else, no. Guess we’re going with the ‘element of surprise’.”

“As if we haven’t had plenty of those,” Ares grumbles.

“Where’s Aries?” Zander asks.

He’s sitting next to me, his hand around mine. We’ve been doing that a lot—holding hands. It’s not something I’ve ever gotten used to, but it brings me a sense of comfort, even if my mind is thinking about multiple things at once.

“Off for two weeks,” Ares huffs. “Father sent him to do some Empire shit. You know, since he doesn’t trust me.” He dismisses it with a shrug. “For protection, we have Matteo’s security team. Besides, I think Leighton Royals University is gonna be a lot stricter after the deaths.”

Right. The multiple deaths.

Nine girls from the Fight Club died last week. It may not have come up on main news outlets because this type of shit is hushed real quickly, but everyone in our “society” found out very quickly that someone poisoned the pack of water reserved for the Women’s Fight Club.

I didn’t expect Leighton to take it as seriously as he did. Insisting it was unacceptable and that an investigation would be launched immediately.

Someone most definitely tampered with the cameras because there’s missing footage in all the security footage at the training center and all around the premises.

May be missing, but it’s not forgotten.

Thankfully, I survived the ordeal, and so did Ishya.

I won’t know much about the details until I come back from the challenge and see her face to face, hopefully, if the Woman’s Fight Club is going to continue, but this incident proved Ishya’s loyalty.

She drank that water first to prove to me that it was safe.

The reaction may have been slow, but she did that to assure me she had no ill intentions toward me. I promised to make it up to her somehow.

“Well, fine by me,” Zander says. “I don’t know about you guys, but he’s been rather distant lately.”

Looking out the window, I focus on the passing trees while I realize after everything I went through, Warren didn’t show up. He wasn’t around to spontaneously show up when I needed him the most.

Instead, Marcus arrived and saved me.

We haven’t talked since, but then again, there were text messages.

RINGER LEADER W:

“Secure yourself with your Kings. Don’t fear ahead. Keep being you, Pigtails.”

Funny how he tells me to keep being me.

What if I don’t want to be this “me”? What if I’m tired of being a bitch who’s walked over?

Recovering after that agonizing seizure took me a full week.

Meds and physiotherapy sessions ensured I was moving my legs and preventing blood clots. Doing “therapy” since everyone involved in that incident was forced to partake because Leighton Royals University was paying for it.

It all made me realize was I need a therapist who cares about their clients and not just the paycheck. I didn’t feel connected tothe woman at all. Just another paid employee counting down the hours until they clock out.

How does that help anyone?

I complained to Zander after that session, and he seemed to snap his fingers and get me out of my mandatory shit before we reached home.
