“How the fuck do you even know about this shit?! And I didn’t leave her on the ice!”
“You have the answer to that. Besides, I don’t need to answer you. Last time I checked, you needed me, not the other way around. So, why don’t you move the fuck out of my way.”
“You’re a fucking traitor! I knew you were only helping me so you can fuck her!”
“She isn’t ‘mine’ to fuck, so why don’t you calm your jealous cock and get out of my way!”
“No fucking different from when we were kids! Always fucking helping her. Always interfering and shit. I was your first friend. You liked me first! Yet, she stole that. Steals fucking everything! Why didn’t you fucking die in that fire, huh?”
Fire? What fire?
Just trying to think of any incident with fire makes me feel like an anxious mess.
That’s not helping with how nauseous I am.
“Don’t bring that shit up right now,” Marcus’ voice drops dangerously low.
“What? Scared she’ll find out you’re some stupid nerd like her who spends all his time calculating formulas and trying to cure cancer in that stupid lab of yours.”
Lab? What lab?
“Shut up, Domino.”
“Still have abandonment issues since your parents died from terminal cancer. You should hurry up and figure out a way to cure yourself, seeing as I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re next down the genetic hatch.”
“Shut the fuck up, Domino, and move out of my fucking way!” Marcus snaps.
I hear Marcus grunt, and it feels like we’re jerked forward. I don’t even grasp that I’ve been closing my eyes this whole while, but I dare take a glimpse with a squint of my eyes, peering up enough to see the enraged expression of Domino as he’s mere inches from Marcus’ face.
“You owe me your loyalty! It’s thanks to me you weren’t homeless! I took you in like a brother, and this is how you repay me? Being obsessed with this cunt bitch who’s plotting against me. Trying to steal everything. My father’s attention. My older brother’s inheritance. The Leighton Empire! To ruin my fucking reputation and tamper with the one thing I enjoy the most—my rising hockey career. My world is crashing down because of her! From day fucking one when she entered my life, she was destined to ruin it, and no matter how many times I try to take her out, you fuckers save her like some noble knights! You don’t owe her anything! She hasn’t gained any of your loyalty! All because she has a pussy, you want to treat her like some sort of Queen!”
Does that mean… the water? Did he plot this? So I can die? What about all the other girls who are completely innocent in all of this? They’re nothing?
“YOU’RE the reason my parents are fucking DEAD!” Marcus yells, and the words echo around us. “Cancer didn’t steal them, and you fucking know it. They were alive. Still fucking breathing! You and those FUCKING cigarettes ruined my damn life, yet IOWE YOU LOYALTY?” He growls, and it feels like our weight shifts before it’s as though I’m swinging forward.
Domino grunts, and I force myself to open my eyes again to see him fall back on his ass, looking up at Marcus with raging eyes.
“You can mess with the other fuckers. Have family-ish with Matteo. Be a jealous prick of Ares’s fame and modeling career. Act like an ungrateful fucker now that you have no access to Benedict’s money after abusing it for years, but you’re not messing with me again, Dom. You’re not burning my entire world down all over again.”
All over again.
“I erased myself once for everyone’s sake but myself,” he says with a trembling voice. “I won’t fucking do it again.”
Erase himself. How does one “erase” themselves from everyone else’s lives?
“Now, leave us the fuck alone.”
Domino grunts as he scrambles up.
“You’re not going to talk to me like that when you’re fucking nobody. Your Empire is fucking gone. No family or friends. You’re a waste of space trying to tell me, Domino Leighton, what to do? Fuck off!”
Domino pushes us, and Marcus almost loses his balance.
I want to help in some way, but my body takes that opportunity to send me a prickling warning.
Fuck. Fuck. FUCK! Not now.
I can’t have a seizure now.
