~GEMINI~
“Jesus, Prescott. You trying to murder the competition?”
I’m lying on the padded gym floor, drenched in sweat, fighting against the stars showing up in my line of vision.
“Sia, at least offer her water.” Ishya’s concerned face comes into my line of vision. “Are you okay, Gemini? I have some water.”
“As long as it’s not poisoned,” I heave out, realizing how breathless I am. “Or… tell Matteo I’m dying. Thanks.”
“God, no,” Sia groans. “If Matteo is anything close to Theo, he’ll go into a rampage, and I’m not talking about an anger fit. I’m talking, people’s lives will end in an hour.”
“That’s romantic,” Ishya notes, noticing our stares before she nervously adds, “I didn’t put enough sarcasm in my voice, did I?”
“It’s the accent,” Sia huffs.
I slowly work on sitting up, resting my gloved arms on my knees.
“Which you’ve been working on,” I emphasize, so she knows her efforts are noticed. “Sia’s just being a bitch, as usual.”
“Hey!” Sia snaps but frowns. “Prescott. Your nose is bleeding.”
“Huh?” I put my left forearm to wipe at my nose—the trail of blood as clear as day against my pale flesh. “Oh.”
“Oh? G-Gemini. That’s not normal! Um… let me go get you a towel or napkins… or maybe a nurse!” She lowers the water next to me but seems to think of something. “Wait.”
I watch as she takes a few gulps of the water and passes it to me.
Arching an eyebrow her way, she smiles.
“See? Not poisonous.”
I clue on why she drank some of the clear fluid.
“You’re really smart, Ishya,” I praise and watch how her smile grows.
“Let me see if we can get a nurse or something. C’mon, Sia!”
“Why am I wasting my valuable lifespa— Hey! Ishya! You’re lucky I can’t pronounce your last name, so you can grasp that we’re not friends.”
“It’s the accent,” she tosses back to Sia with a sly smirk that makes Sia growl in frustration. “We’ll be back. Don’t die, Sia.”
“Mhmm.” I drink the remainder of the water, needing to replenish my system cause fuck.
That fight was intense… and exhilarating.
Lying back down may cause me to choke, but the room is spinning far too fast for my own good. Staring at the ceiling of blurry white and shining lights may not be doing me much good, but I try to distract myself by thinking about the weeks that have gone by.
Matteo’s hockey match is coming up. We haven’t seen him the entire week because of it.
Odd to admit, I actually miss him. I listen to the rumors and gossip whispers of how we probably are complete strangers. What can I possibly bring to the table for him to be interested enough to want to marry me?
Then there’s the fact Ares hasn’t hesitated to affirm his original statement when asked during a LIVE interview about his reaction to the rumors that another man wishes to propose to me, the woman model who’s “still” trending.
Ares not only seductively smirks and laughs, he tells the world, “That’s excellent. I love competition. All that matters is who can get a ring on her faster. She has to accept, of course.”
Now, that’s trending across all socials because who isn’t going to go wild at the idea of a potential threesome with a model millionaire, a medical investor billionaire, and a poor girl?
Okay, I’m not necessarily “poor” now that the secret of me being Prescott’s only child is out there in our society, but everyone outside our bubble thinks I’m a homeless cat on these wild streets.
