I aim my gun high, covering my face and shooting anyone who’s a threat, which is basically everyone.
When I finally get outside, I don't stop running until I’m near a car that’s parked in the woods nearby.
The doors unlock and I get in and look out the window while calming down my breathing.
“Miss are you alright?” the driver asks but I can’t answer him.
Not as I see the warehouse go up in flames and Killian walking out like he’s Satan arising from Hell.
Twenty-Four
Reign
It’s beenquiet since Killian got inside the car and said, “Drive.”
He didn’t say a word or even looked at me. His face is covered in ashes and I see some bullet holes in his vest. His shirt is dirty and his hair is a mess.
I can’t help but want to fix him and make him look like the Killian that I’m used to, the one with the playful smirk and smile.
But his finger anxiously taps his thigh as he keeps his eyes on the window.
When the warehouse blew up in flames, I knew Killian somehow was the cause of it.
Seeing the warehouse in flames gave me Deja Vu from the time our warehouse in Bulgaria blew up in flames.
But Killian isn’t the type of person to do that. Not intentionally.
“Kill-”
“I don’t want to fucking hear it, Reign.” Killian says roughly, still not looking away from the window.
I know I fucked up.
I know I should have listened and just did as he said but then what was the point of going through all this if we didn’t have the bag?
This trip to France would have been pointless and papa would have been disappointed.
The rest of the drive to the hotel is spent in silence as we both look out the windows. I took off my vest because it was getting stuffy in the car but Killian still has his on, looking super roughed up.
When we get to the hotel, the driver parks the car. Killian gets out while the driver comes around to open the door for me.
I keep my eyes on Killian as I follow him slowly to the elevator. People in the lobby are looking at us like we’re insane but obviously Killian doesn’t care.
All eyes are on Killian and he doesn’t even care or shows that it affects him. Watching him walk past a crowd of people who are staring at him while he has a straight face and a powerful walk makes me intimidated.
I was always a little intimidated by Killian just because he has a lot of power, not because of his status or last name but because of the way he carries himself.
We get in the elevator and stand side by side.
After a few seconds of silence, I feel chills and goosebumps crawling up my chest because of the fact that I have to say something to him.
“So we-”
“I thought I said I didn’t want to fucking hear it?” Killian looks down at me. His jaw clenched and his eyebrows furrowed down making him look so royally pissed off. “Obviously you have some serious listening issues or else you would have heard me and followed directions during that mission, but you didn’t.”
I stay quiet for the rest of the elevator ride because I don’t want to make Killian even more pissed off then I already have.
I almost feel like a child getting scolded even though Killian and I are close to the same age.
