I follow after him. “Things have been weird between us lately.” Killian turns to look at me and he grabs a white shirt from the bed and throws it on.
“What makes you say that?” Killian crosses his arms over his chest and raises an eyebrow at me.
I nervously grip the bottom of my skirt. “Well after what happened in the garden-”
“What happened in the garden?” Killian asks, acting like he’s actually confused.
I laugh lightly because he has to be kidding. “We had-”
“Nothing.” Killian walks towards me. “We had nothing, Reign. Nothing happened that day. You’d be crazy to think something would.”
I furrow my eyebrows. “You’re the one who was making eyes at me.”
Killian narrows his eyes, and they darken just like they did in the garden. “What eyes?”
He knows exactly what he’s doing. “That. Your pupils get bigger which makes you look like you want me or something.”
Killian’s lips lift in a small smirk and take a step closer. “I don’t want you, Reign.”
“Then stop looking at me like that.”
Killian leans down and his eyes go to my lips before meeting my eyes. “Could say the same for you. Staring at me constantly and blushing when I don’t wear a shirt.” Killian’s smirk widens. “I mean admit it, you love the attention I give you. You love seeing me walk around everywhere shirtless. Don’t be a hypocrite,” he says before passing by me, knocking his shoulder into mine.
He leaves his room and goes out the front door after putting his shoes on.
I try to calm down and force myself to walk out of his house.
We’re not finished.
Killian can’t just project all this on me when I didn’t even do or initiate anything.
When I walk into the main house everyone is sitting in their seats and Killian is sipping on water, smirking when his eyes catch mine.
I sit down with everyone else at the table as the workers start bringing in dinner.
“Today I had the chef make some pasta. I wasn’t in the cooking mood today,” Mama explains.
“What’d you do today, Mama?” I ask.
Mama starts explaining how she worked in the garden with Baba, she did some reading and went to the store with Papa.
Papa and Mama try to go out regularly because they like pretending they have a somewhat normal life.
So, a day with just them two and rarely any bodyguards up close to them, they enjoy it and spend it quietly together.
While she explains more about her day along with Papa cutting in, my eyes go to Killian automatically.
I don’t know why I can’t keep my eyes off him.
Killian is like the black devil. Not the red, no.
The red devil is the one that everyone is afraid of because he makes his presence known, kind of like Killian’s dad.
But Killian, the black devil, he is the devil you never see coming. Quieter and deadlier.
It’s the ones that everyone will scream for.
Killian’s eyes meet mine.
