He chuckles. “I ordered duplicates of all your clothing. And even though I know your Gram didn’t buy these…” he walks over to his enormous closet and pulls out a new pair of Converseshoes exactly like the ones she bought me. “When those wear out, you’ll have a new pair.”
I lift a hand to my trembling lips. “Jesus…” Tears fill my eyes. “That’s sweet.”
He carries them over to me with shorts and a shirt. “Anything to see you smile.”
I wrap my arms around him, hugging him tightly. I know we have a hard road ahead, especially with our family and the stigma that will haunt us since we are stepsiblings, but right now, I want to bask in the happiness I’ve found with him.
When I pull back, I cock my head. “How did you get Jessica to leave?”
“Trent is very good at hacking. I used the evidence he found and sent her packing under the guise of a family emergency.”
A smile curls my lips. “Thank you for taking care of our problem.”
He nods. “There’s something I need to discuss with you.”
My mood is somber as I stare at him, worry coursing through me.
“I’m going to do things to anger you. Unintentional things that may upset or hurt you.” His thumb moves to my bottom lip, tracing it. “Please tell me so I can fix it. Don’t try to run. One, because I’ll never let you get away.” A shit-eating grin curls his lips. “But two, I don’t wanna cause you pain. Unless you’re naked, or?—”
Laughing, I hold up my hand. “I get it.” I grow serious. “You don’t wanna hurt me, huh?”
He shakes his head. “Not that kind of pain.” A smirk curls his lips. “But I love when that mouth of yours pisses me off. It looks so pretty with my cock inside, choking you.” He winks as he grabs my panties and slides them up my legs.
“You’re ridiculous.”
He winks. “Ridiculously in love with you.”
I standin the far corner of the parking lot, staring at the flames shooting out of poor Dwayne.
Evan’s eyes bore into the side of my head when I sigh. “Such a waste of money.”
He slings his arm over my shoulder. “Baby, we have more money than you know what to do with.”
“Correction. You have more money?—”
My mouth snaps closed at the glowering expression on his face. “Fine. Waste our money.”
Once Dwayne is nothing but charred remains, Evan takes my hand and helps me into the passenger seat of his car.
“Aren’t you worried about someone seeing us?”
He shrugs. “It’s not like I kissed or fucked you in the parking lot. Yet.” He smirks, closing the door before I can respond.
It’s not worth reminding him what happened in the parking lot when I moved in.
Once behind the steering wheel, he revs the engine, runs over poor Dwayne, backs up, and does it again before exiting the parking lot.
“Was that necessary?”
“Absolutely.”
I shake my head before sinking into the leather seat of his car, enjoying the ride.
A few minutes later, his phone rings. Trent’s name flashes across the screen.
Evan touches the screen and answers it. “What’s up?”
“It’s finally happening. Tonight.” Trent’s voice is full of smug satisfaction. “I’m beating the living shit outta Owen.”
