A mournful sigh comes from his lips, but he doesn’t say anything.

I’ve known Luca for a while, training with him and discussing his plans for vengeance on the assholes in Devil’s Den. The only thing he wants more than revenge is her.

Finally, his low voice comes through the line again. “Let’s hope. I’d like to believe she has, but I’m not a fool. Especially when it comes to the people of Devil’s Den. Fucking corrupt town,” he mutters bitterly.

“Don’t worry about it. You’ve done the research. You know Keira isn’t like them.” I pause, my words echoing inside my head as I watch Lexi. “One thing is for certain. You always get what you want.”

Luca laughs. “I’m like you in that respect. We don’t let anything stand in our way.”

My gaze is on Lexi as she gets up, her cheeks bright red as she bites her lip. She dresses quickly, her expression reminding me of the women who have done the walk of shame more than once after I fucked them in the very room she’s staying in. My bedroom is my personal sanctuary. No one enters it except me.

“No, we certainly don’t.” My mouth waters as I watch Lexi standing in front of the full-length mirror, fixing her tangled hair. “When we want something, we get it.”

Fuck. I wish it were me who messed her hair up like that.

Luca’s voice pulls my attention from my obsession. “What time do you wanna meet tomorrow?”

I grin. “Early morning work? 6 am?”

“Works for me. We’ll grab breakfast at the diner on the outskirts of town, and I’ll show you how to use them.”

“Thanks, Luca. If you need anything from me….”

“I know where to find you, Evan. It’s under control. You focus on Lexi.”

Hanging up, I watch her pull her hair into a ponytail. She pops in her earbuds before messing with her phone. I adjust the camera, zooming in as she checks her Apple watch. I squint until I see the Outdoor Run is displayed.

An evil smile blooms across my lips as I toss my cum laden shirt into the hamper, devising a plan.

I quickly put on sweatpants and a T-shirt, then rummage through my closet until I find the Ghostface mask I wore to a Halloween party last year.

In the two weeks I’ve known her, I’ve learned she loves horror movies, and Ghostface is her favorite slasher.

I look out my bedroom window, watching her run toward the woods behind our apartment building.

Let’s have some fun, shall we, Lexi?

CHAPTER 17

Evan

I’m very familiar with the route Lexi is running, which ultimately converges into two trails. I chuckle as I choose the other trail, which will run straight into the path she’s on.

Most of the students are getting ready for the pre-college party that the two biggest fraternities and sororities are holding tonight, which means Lexi and I are likely to be alone in these woods.

However, I’m cautious, keeping a lookout as my legs pump faster, carrying me toward her in the darkening woods.

I should bend her over my knee and beat her ass for running outside, alone, this late in the evening.

My feet fly over the trail, wanting to get to the perfect hiding spot that will allow me to spot her long before she sees me.

Once I reach the spot, I lift my mask, wiping the sweat from my brow. I look down at the app on my phone with a grin, my heart pounding with anticipation. She’ll be here soon.

Sliding my phone into my pocket, I slip the mask back into place. I brace myself, my muscles tense and my ears straining for signs of her arrival. I hear the pounding of her feet striking the trail, coming right toward me.

I zip around the trees, putting myself right in her path. She looks up from the trail and jerks to a stop. Her wide-eyed gaze roams over my body before she hesitantly chokes out one word. “E-Evan?”

I cock my head, not saying anything. I have an identifying tattoo, but it’s hidden beneath my shirt. With the mask covering my face, she may suspect it’s me, but obviously, she’s unsure.
