“Nap with me,” I murmured, feeling content, our bodies entwined.
“OK.” She closed her eyes, her lips quirked up.
Both me and my dick smiled.
She just knew how to make things better.
TWENTY-TWO
ENZO
“Ihave a surprise for you,” I said, coming into Rosalie’s bedroom where she was sitting on E’s lap, presumably writing music in her notebook as he hummed softly.
She tilted her head at me and smiled. “You do?”
“Yep. Actually, we all do.”
She widened her eyes. I took her hand in mine and pulled her from E’s lap. He got to his feet too and followed us as I led her to the top of the stairs.
“What is it?” she asked, the excitement in her voice making me smile. It had taken a little wiggle work, but we’d managed to make it happen.
“E.” I stopped and nodded at him.
He pulled out a blindfold and put it over Rosalie’s eyes.
“I’m nervous,” she said, breathless, her hands outstretched.
“You’re OK,” E murmured. “Take Enzo’s hand.”
She took my hand and I lifted her into my arms, making a squeal come from her mouth as she fumbled to hold onto me.
“How many times have I carried you up and down these stairs, Sunshine?” I cooed in her ear as we descended.
“It was just surprising,” she answered back, her voice low, her arms around my neck.
When we reached the bottom, I put her on her feet, and E and I led her into the living room where we helped her sit on the couch.
“I’m so nervous,” she said, her voice shaking. “Where are Fox and Cole?”
“Here, Rosie,” Fox said, leading our guest of honor into the room.
Cole was behind him, grinning.
“E, do the honors,” I said, nodding to Rosalie.
He reached over and pulled the blind from her eyes. She sat in stunned silence for a long time staring straight ahead before she finally came to.
“Oh my god! Jamie!” She launched herself off the couch and threw her arms around Jamie, her best friend from Black Falls. Jamie returned her hug, squealing right back, the pair clinging to each other.
“I can’t believe you’re here! Enzo. Oh my god.” She released Jamie and looked at me, tears in her eyes.
“It was E’s idea,” I said, nodding to Ethan.
“Not really. It was more of a group effort,” E replied, offering her a tired smile. He’d been up all night working on more drugs because his nightmares were far too disturbing to sleep through. I’d gone into the room in the basement to find him bagging up new supplies, his eyes bloodshot. He was high off his ass and muttering about hating himself. I’d sat with him until he’d finally fallen asleep with his head on the table, using a pile of sugar as a pillow.
“Thank you. All of you.” Rosalie went to each of us guys and hugged us tightly before going back to Jamie and tugging her down onto the couch next to her.
“Do you know how hard it was to not call you and tell you I was coming?” Jamie laughed. “I really struggled.”
