“Do you find it difficult to deal with her sometimes?” I asked, curious if she were like Rosalie. Bianca struck me as more wild than Rosalie.
Dom was quiet for a moment before he nodded. “Often. We’re going through a bit of a rough patch.”
I raised my brows at this information. “Is it bad?”
“She said she doesn’t want to be married to me anymore,” Dom’s voice shook, the pain palpable around us. My heart went out to him as his hands trembled with the drink he took. That was why he looked like hell. He was truly going through it.
“Well, that’s fucked,” E muttered, sadness on his face.
“Are you going to let her go?” Fox sat forward, frowning.
It was the same question I’d been asking about Rosalie before our engagement, so I knew the turmoil he was in.
“I don’t know. I’m tired of the fighting.” Dom drank some more, his voice thick. It was the voice of a man who definitely didn’t want to let his girl go and was in a lot of pain.
“You’re not,” Levin said firmly, a steely look in his blue eyes. “And that’s final.”
“Right. Because how would that work? Three kings banging the leader’s ex-wife?” Cole let out a low whistle and shook his head. “Seems rough.”
“Two kings. Fallon left us. He’s back with the lords.” Dom’s words surprised me. This was the first I heard about Fallon leaving.
“Well fuck.” I shook my head at the information, worry ramping up within me at the potential problem we could be in. “So that means. . .”
“All he has to do is fucking sing and it’s game over for all of us.” Dom drank again.
“We aren’t overly concerned. We’ll do what needs to be done. We have the manpower,” I said, drawing myself up. We’d dowhat we had to do. That was all there was to it. “Not that we want to do it, but we will if we must.”
Dom nodded.
“We’re having a party in a few months,” I continued. “For my parents’ anniversary. I know it’s far out, but it’s at least something to look forward to. Everyone who is anyone will be there. You should come. A good party is a great way to clear your mind if you guys are still in a rut.”
I wasn’t even sure if the party would happen. My parents may just lay low, but we still had the wedding and all the parties that went with that to get through. Somewhere in all of it, there may be an outlet for Dom.
“Maybe.” Dom rubbed his eyes before looking down at the Rolex on his wrist.
“De Santis,” I called out softly, feeling like I needed to say something to him to help put him at ease. Dom looked at me with his sad eyes. “Don’t worry too much about your girl. Rosalie and I go at it quite often these days. It fucking hurts, but she knows I love her, and I know she loves me. You’ll hopefully find common ground.”
“Have you found it?”
I laughed a little, knowing it wasn’t so much as common ground as it was an impasse. “No. But I’m looking for it, even if the prospects are bleak.”
The sad look didn’t morph off Dom’s face. Instead, he simply nodded like he knew exactly what I was talking about.
“We’ll get the drugs out. We’ll keep our ears to the ground on Beyers and Fallon. Watch your girl in the meantime. The lords want her too. She’s on their list,” Dom said gruffly.
My guts clenched at that information. I was already aware it may be an issue, but this was the confirmation. It just meant that what I thought was going well would take a shit on us again.
Fox must have been thinking what I was and feeling that same rage because his hand curled into a fist, and Cole glared, a muscle thrumming along his jaw. And E. . .
He thumbed over his phone and pulled up the tracking app to check on Rosalie.
“We have men watching her as well,” I said, clearing my throat. “She’ll be safe.”
“Good.” Dom stood, his guys following. “We’ll see you soon.”
I offered him my hand and we shook before Levin and Vincent followed him out, leaving us alone.
“Are we really going to have to do this again? Hold Rosalie back and argue more? You know if the lords are looking for a way to grab her then we’re going to have to go back to how things were.” A pained expression crossed E’s face. “I don’t want to do that. I like seeing her happy. I like how things are right now.”
