We reached the office, and I pushed the door open and brought B into the room where everyone already was, horsemen minus Cole included.

B released my hand and went to Levin, who gave her a surprised look before he opened his arms for her. She slid onto his lap and nestled against his chest. A smile spread across my face at the interaction. I’d been worried, considering everything that had gone down before the damn incident at the house where Tate and Hail had decided to fuck around and find out.

Dom’s lips twitched upward at the pair, letting me know he was relieved, too. Fallon seemed disappointed she hadn’t gone to him, but he needed to understand she had a lot to get over involving him. I knew we’d get there eventually, but fuck. It was going to be a long road.

And Drake.

He watched Levin and B without any clear expression on his face. If I could have been a fly on the wall last night with him and Dom sleeping in the same bed.

I was going to make it a point to ask about it as soon as we were done with our meeting.

Everyone settled in, and Dom cleared his throat but paused when Stefan came into the room and settled in a spot on the couch.

“We’re in. We’re staying in the game. We need to make a plan for the next steps though. Levin is going into the fold with my father. Soon after, they’ll call on Vin. I’m sure of it. It’ll leave me in a weakened state with no protection. The end game is my demise so I’m not in the running to take over. The fact my fath—,” he paused and cleared his throat. “Matteodidn’t suffocate me in my sleep as a child still baffles me. I’m not going to get hopeful and think he gives a modicum of shit about me, but it’s odd.”

“He probably wanted to make you suffer,” Fox said softly. “As punishment.”

Dom grunted.

Cole came into the room, looking irritated, and took a seat on one of the couches.

“I agree. It’s probably just some fucked up punishment. This was probably his plan all along. Raise you. Get you into shit too deep. Have you killed. Then it looks legit.” Enzo nodded.

“Well, I’m not going down without a fight,” Dom said fiercely.

“We’re at your side,” I said firmly.

Dom looked over at me. “I don’t think we have a lot of time left, Vin. Truly.”

“We may have a lot more than you think. Levin hasn’t been called upon yet. We just know it’ll eventually happen.” I looked to Levin, who was cradling B in his arms as she whispered in his ear. I had no idea what she was saying to him, but the grim expression on his face made me think she might be begging him to stay.

I’ve been trying, baby. I want him to stay too.

Levin brushed his lips against hers before turning his attention on us.

“I’ll leave when called,” he said evenly.

“I’ll go—” Stefan started, sitting forward.

“Fuck off, Stefan. I’m going. You’re dead. Stay that fucking way. Work from the inside out,” Levin snapped at his brother.

Stefan scowled.

“Levin is right. Everything will be in vain if you jump back in,” I said. “They might actually kill you this time. It’s not like your old man plays nice either.”

The scowl on Stefan’s face deepened. “I don’t want Levin to do this.”

“Join the club,” I muttered.

Levin let out a sigh. “I’m doing it.”

“I don’t want you to,” B said, her voice wavering. “I only just got you back.”

“Bumblebee,” he murmured. “I’m doing this for us.”

She sat up and shook her head. “I don’t want that. I want us to be safe. This isn’t safe!”

“She’s right,” Dom said. “Which is why I think Drake should take her away until this blows over.”
