He was quiet for a moment before he spoke, his voice shaking. “Where is she?”

“She’s here with me. She’s. . . sleeping.”

“Is she OK?” Dominic demanded, his voice growing stronger.

“She’s fine. I have a doctor coming out to check on her.”

“I’ll meet you. Where are you?”

I hesitated for a moment. I was going to lose her all over again. I just knew it.

“Don’t fucking do this to me, Petrov.Please.Where are you?”

Maybe it was strain and panic in his voice. Or maybe the knowledge that this guy was willing to die to be with her, but I sighed.

“I took her to the horsemen’s place. I know you’re pissed at me, but don’t come up in here with weapons. I won’t fucking deal with that shit. Neither will they.”

“I won’t. We’ll all be showing up. My place is compromised,” he said gruffly. “I’m bringing a doctor.”

“Fine,” I muttered. “I’ll let Enzo know.”

“I’ll see you soon.” He disconnected the call, leaving me in silence.

Sighing, I stared down at Bianca for a long moment before giving her hand a squeeze. I sat with her while the minutes ticked by, my hand on hers.

Finally, there was a soft knock on her door, and Enzo came in with Doctor Farris in tow.

“Do you need me?” I asked her, getting to my feet.

“No. I should be fine,” she answered, opening her pack and pulling out a few contraptions.

I looked to Enzo, whose dark gaze was trained on Bianca. “Dom is on his way. He’s bringing a doctor too.”

“I’ll go downstairs and wait for him.” Enzo didn’t say another word before he left the room.

I knew I could leave, but fuck me, I didn’t want to, so I stayed while Doctor Farris took Bianca’s blood pressure and checked her out fully.

“She OK?” I asked, a lump of worry in my throat.

“So far. Lots of bruising on her back. I don’t think anything is broken, but she’s going to be sore for a few days.” She pulled out another small machine, then gelled the end of a wand and placed it over Bianca’s stomach. A moment later, soft whooshing noises came out.

“What’s that?” I asked, stepping forward.

“The babies’ heartbeats.”

“They’re OK?”

“They seem to be,” she murmured. “But I’ll need her to come in and have an ultrasound. She’s due for a checkup anyway. I’m available all day tomorrow.”

“You sure? It’s Saturday.”

“I’m available. Just text me first. I’ll meet you at my office,” she said. “If she wakes up hurting, you can give her these. They’re safe for both her and the babies. Make sure she rests and doesn’t overdo it. And for the love of god, stop getting her into these messes. She’s responsive to my touch, so she should be waking soon. Stop drugging the poor girl.”

“I’ll work on that,” I muttered, following her to the bedroom door. I handed her a wad of cash. “Thank you for coming, Larissa.”

She smiled up at me. “You’re welcome. Call me if anything changes.”

I nodded and watched as she left the room.
